The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:

This Be The Verse

They **** you up, your mum and dad.

I woke up in a world of glass today
Sun gleaming down on me from above
Just trying to find a way
To get to the rocks just outside my reach

People start to gather
When my pleas for help turn to screams
They don't think it matters
That I'm standing on pavement

Now there is a crowd
Watching as I gaze
The silence is so loud
That I close my eyes and fall away.

Sweating because of the heat

To walk downtown

I saw a man in a world of glass
Furiously trying to get to a pile of rocks
Randomly looking up at the mass
of people watching in horror

He seemed intent on escaping
So I approached that pile of rocks
He stared up, crazed, eyes gaping
And yelled at me to get away

The Squat
Down the road, in a gym far away
a young man was heard to say
No matter what I do my legs won't grow
He tried leg extensions, leg curls, leg presses too
Trying to cheat, these sissy workouts he'd do
From the corner of the gym
where the big men train
Through a cloud of chalk
and in the midst of pain
Where the big iron rides high
and threatens lives
Where the noise is made
with big forty fives
A deep voice bellowed
as he wrapped his knees
A very big man
with legs like trees
Laughing as he snatched another plate from the stack,
Chalking his hands
and monstrous back,
Said "BOY STOP LYING AND DON'T SAY YOU'VE FORGOTTEN.
TROUBLE WITH YOU IS YOU AIN'T BEEN SQUATTIN'."

Childhood Remembered (Winter)

I remember the howling winds
As it buffeted feathery snow
And painted an icy masterpeice
Upon my windowpane.

I recall waving my arms and legs
As if trying to soar to heaven
Leaving only the impress of angels
Upon the fallen snow.

Ice sometimes covered everything.
It was like witnessing the world
Through white amber.

Trees and roads were fossilized
until the sun broke the spell
And chased the ice down tiny streamlets
Along the curb.

Not really a poem but something else I wrote. It's creative.

Driven, determined and confident. He knew what he wanted and most of the time he got it. He had flown through all of his formal education without so much as a hiccup. A sponge for knowledge, he was smart and he knew it. Everyone around him knew, he knew it. He developed a reputation for arrogance. He satisfied a voracious appetite for all kinds of knowledge, whether it be mathematics, culture, history, or language by devouring books in hours. (the ones that held his attention) He also developed an insatiable thirst for good fiction, something that would keep him on his toes, working his mind.

Mind, body and soul.

He treated his body like a well tuned machine. Discliplined workout schedules and meal plans always in the back of his mind. No doubt making up for all the other things he let go. It was a lifestyle forgotten in times of stress and it showed with the extra weight he carried. Now however he was focused, and it was starting to show.

Religion was a large influence in his life as a child, being taken to church by his parents and suffering the same grace every day when his family sat down for dinner. However, as he grew, his logical pattern of thought found the inconsistencies of the theology and doubts had grown roots. A true believer in equality and respect for others he often found himself outnumbered by the religious hordes. He believed his life was his own. The purpose, to love and be loved. Respect was not a concept but a rule. He tried to be diplomatic and fair even in emotional situations which made some people consider him cold.

I had seen this man, we had made eye contact in passing. However, I caught the ever observant and analytical look in his crystal blue eyes. I put my head down quickly and splashed water on my face, patted it dry and smiled into the mirror. Time to be off to work
