Whats with these people?
So I know some people who have gone to the gym or worked out longer than me, but have no diet and eat the worst crap. They eat bagels with butter and creamcheese, fast food all the time, desserts, soda, etc. They drink alcohol, too; something I don't do. In other words, they don't have a diet like I do. Well, one person takes a protein shake but they are called SUPPLEMENTS fora reason. So what's the problem? They look and are stronger than me and their knowledge on fitness falls behind on mine(keep in mind, judging from my posts, I don't seem to know too much, but still a decent amount considering my experience....). I will say this though; my endurance is something they can not touch and i'm still faster than them. But I just want to know why they are stronger than me? Is it because they worked out longer?
lol, just wanted to rant about something; because this situation can be discouraging for most poeple like me.

Its genetics, sooner or later if you keep eating smart and training smart you'll pass the people who arent smart about what they do...it just takes time.

if they have been lifting for a significantly longer time than you, I would assume that would something to do with it also
dont let that discourage you, like the above poster said, eventually that way can only get you so far, doing it the smart way will always land you on top.

I disagree... there are going to be people out there who are better than you. The most seemingly lazy and retarded people may be squatting 700lbs at a bodyweight of 200lbs with 3% body fat, and may sleep 3 hours a night and eat deep fried oreos all the time... it happens. Someone is ALWAYS going to be be getting further on less, and that is a fact of life. Ever see someone get promoted that doesn't even know their job, misses more work than any three other people put together and generally has a bad attitude? It happens.
Suck it up. What good does it do you to be better than these people? Are you better than you were 2 months ago? Grab hold of a little self confidence and drop this worthless mentality.

Now that's a close-minded and ignorant statement. Just blame something else. It could not possibly be your fault, or any of your doing. There's these people at my gym, and they're stronger than me and look better than me. I used to blame myself, and tried to work harder. Then I discovered the art of delusion, denial, and blaming everyone else. Now I just say, "Well, they are on steroids. They cheat. OK, Sonic or Burger King?"

They may be eating like crap now and drinking every night of the week but don't rule out the possibility that they may have been training longer than you and built up their base in years past. The reason I say this is I've been lifting for 4 years and for about 3 of those years all I cared about was nutrition and and training. Right now however, I'm taking a break from at least the nutrition part of the equation and enjoying myself for a couple months but I guarantee you, in the gym I'm still going to lift more and appear bigger because of those 3 years when you didn't see me. My point isn't to brag or belittle you by any means but rather to illustrate that if you keep at it and don't worry about other people, one day you can be a slacker like me for a couple months and not worry about shrinking away to nothing.
But what do I know, maybe the people you're referring to are stacking 5 cycles and I'm defending a bunch of jackasses that are doing it all wrong.

We all go through this. But it is partially genetics and partially training IE when I was younger lots of Men use to train with thier liitle rinky dink cement weights, They would bring Me and My girlfriends to thier house and show them thier weight benches While stating I work out while the weman were all over Me. What these guys did not know was that I had Iron dumbells and had been trining since I was 11 years old not to mention I followed a good diet, I ate lots of protien (pork beef and chicken) for all of those years while they ate beans and rice.

Two key things that havent been touched on: Hard work and dedication. Over the course of years this really can overide many other bad habits. While many on this board are sitting their studying the fitness/fatique model these guys are just lifting heavy ass weights. They have never even heard of overtraining, all they know is they are going to go into the gym and hit it harder then the last time.

I have been thinking the same question actually. There's this guy in my weightlifting class who is in GREAT shape. He is fairly built, good size, cut, looks great. I asked him the other day "How long have you been working out? You look awesome!" He just shrugged his shoulders and said "I dont even know how I stay in shape. I only lift every now and then, only at school." He told me he isnt taking supplements or on any diet. I do know, however, that he has been lifting for a few years, but on and off. Either way, I envy him.
