black dude steals purse
A black dude stole my mother's purse recently, which contained around $150-200 in cash, credit cards, check book, house keys, and car keys. All accounts were closed/changed, and house locks have been changed as well. Lately lots of blacks started moving into our neighborhood and the crime went up, especially with theft, and those who lived there for a long time are having a hard time adapting. A lot of people are just abandoning the neighborhood, which is sad because it's such a great place.
Anyways, one thing she couldn't change yet is the locks on the car. Is it even worth changing? Do crackheads just take the money and drop purses off somewhere or do they actually try to get most out of it, including stealing cars? The car is old and changing locks on a car is something I've never done and assume it's expensive.
Anyone have any experience?

It's actually a true story. As for proof, my mother should've gotten a complaint number from NYPD after she reported it and if she did, I could probably share it here. Cop who filed the report said it was grand larceny because credit cards were involved, or something of that nature.
Other than spending most of the day closing accounts, this wasn't much of a loss. I just hope the car doesn't get stolen, though.

its very unlikely he'll go after the car.
purse = easy.. grab spend money
car = locate address steal car - drive around in stolen car (risk) - find some way of selling car - need a place to store etc.
its unlikely, i wouldn't worry about it. he just needed some money

Yes poor, urban blacks have a much higher incidence of criminal activity than the average. But is that a logical reason to put a negative label on every black person? Obviously not..
