Our Board's Own Transformations
The nature of this thread is to post your before/after pictures {can be from when you very first started (years ago) or just your recent progress}, before/after stats (weight bf % if known, height, measurements lost/gained i.e. how many iches lost or gained due to muscle) starting/current age, etc., of when you starting the weight lifting route.
Competitors more than welcome to post too.
Why start this thread? Because I think it would be a good idea. Plus, I think it would be motivational for the newbies, plus to the veteran board members. You'll be able to see people your age, height, weight, etc, and see that it is possible to change your body, your life, your sense of well being, in a positive way. Also that regular people are living this way, and are able to make great changes. Not just the competitors.
Nothing is impossible. If you think it, you can be it.

OK. I'm a bit shy. The two first picts are from end of April. I've been training for the past 4 years, since last December more seriously, and since April with a clean diet. Two others are from last week.

I DEFINITELY see some ab development there, no doubt. Your back as well is coming out nicely.
As for me, I'm only about a month back in the game, after taking a break for one year. I'll come back and post pictures in a month or two. Or three. Ahh, who knows.

My journey
I'm posting a few photos.
I'm 24, married for almost 3 years now(been together for a little over 6), one 2 year old daughter.
I've been training since January of 2005.
Weight Start: 150-160lbs
BF% Start: Unknown.. I'm assuming in the upper 30s, maybe even 40.
I'm 5 foot 1.5inches tall
Current Weight:124lbs
Current BF% -18%
Reasons for first starting: to lose weight that I gianed during and after pregnancy.
Reasons for continuing ... because it's awesome, yo.
I didn't start taking progression photos until May of 2005 though.. so I have no proior except for "normal" pictures.
The most recent pictures... labeled August ... were taken yesterday.

Ahh screw it, I think I'll do it now. Today is my 6 week mark, and honestly, I don't see much of a change.
Although my thighs don't look all that different, I know for a fact that they did get smaller since my work pants used to be really tight on me (I could barely put my hands in my pockets!); and now, they're pretty loose. My stomach did get smaller and I'm starting to see slight definition. But, I'm still pretty disappointed, because my diet and weight training is in check (and yes, I do switch up my routine every 3-4 weeks).
Starting from my first week, and a few days/weeks afterwards:

lol you're absolutely adorable!
The ones of you in the red sports bra.. the back shot there looks more define, and a tad bigger than your current. You can see a difference in your stomach, it looks more flat/ less distended than the first picture.
You're doing marvelous dear, and you have such a cute frame to work with.

Thank you.
I'm just disappointed and a little pissed, cuz this is the HARDEST I've worked. Last year, when I weightlifted, I had a really dirty diet and zero days of cardio. I seemed to have made better gains back then than I am now, except my thigh/stomach progress.

Great idea Ninja
I found a couple of pics from mid 2003 which was when I made the decision to get serious with my lifting. I had been training on and off for a few years up to that point but was really not happy with the results so I decided to add in heavy compound movements and get serious with my nutrition.
You can see the results
(The deadlifts in the pic are rack deads from shin height. The weight is 396 lbs x 10 reps).
My bodyweight in 2003 was around 135 lbs. I am now just over 180 lbs. I am 5'6"
BTW - Ninja, I am so thrilled that you have used my quote in your sig. The more that accept that fact, the more progress there will be for those who want muscles!!

WOW! And all that in just 2.5 years! That's just awesome.
I was thrilled to read you say it. It's just that so many are obsessed with "cardio." And think it's the only way to lose weight, lose body fat, etc. It made my day when I saw you, a seasoned veteran state what's in my signature. Because I have read it before many places, but yet, no one seemed to listen to it. They then wonder why they aren't gaining the muscle/mass that they want. Then it's, "I do it for my heart." Well, I lift for my body and my heart. Multitasking. I like the strength of my body and how much it can lift than how far my legs can take me. I love lifting heavy things. It's fun. It's cool. It makes my day when my medium short frame can lift something 60lbs(and eventually even more) heavier than me. It makes my day when I can actually lift my body up with just the strength of my arms and back, with minimal effort.
If I do "cardio" such as riding a bike, swimming, etc .. it's done when it's not something that I "need" to do. I like to ride my bike for the fun off it. I like to go swimming just for the pure fun of it, not because it's "good" for my heart. Which is why I always suck at keeping up with scheduled "cardio." It feels forced, which it is, and that's why I never keep it. I don't like the idea of sacraficing muscle in any way shape or form, even if it's a tiny bit. I took me a long time to get it .. lol I don't want used for anything else except for making me stronger.

Serious with your nutrition!? That's the biggest understament I've read all morning!LOL! You must spend all day eating to maintain that much muscle mass! Great job, I can't believe I've been whining about not feeling hungy...I need to shut up and just do it! Thanks for the before pic Titania, you've just given me some inspiration to go eat something!

Background- Never set foot in the gym until about 4 1/2 yrs ago, followed my man around looking like a dork doing what he told me to do. Had as many on months as I did off months. Back in the '90's I still had the anorexic look, started puttin' the happy pounds on when he moved in with me about '01 (am I making excuses?). Anyway, we decided to join the gym again last August. I was 148 pounds. On my 5'9" self nobody guessed I weighed that much, but I felt BIG & flabby. Till about Christmas I sorta plugged away, lost some fat and started gaining strength. Then I turned 34 in December and had a conversation with this trainer in my gym who was complimenting my husband on his perfect form (Thpbbb). She then turned to me and said I was making progress (I really think she was trying to be nice) and she had noticed I was trying to keep up with him. That BUGGED! I'm not trying to "keep up" with a man! (Who BTW, is 5 yrs younger and has the genetics of an athlete) I had something to prove! I had gotten down to 136lbs by then, so I started taking my workouts into my own hands -learning how body building works for women. By mid March I got down to 126 lbs (to small) and cut my cardio from the 60-75 minute mind-numbing thing it had become to 20 min (I rarely even do that any more) and upped my lifting to 5-6 days a week (more rewarding!).
So I'm 34, currently 132 lbs with less than 14% bf. My measurements are going back up with my muscle gain, so I don't find them very motivating right now. I now have something to prove to myself: I can keep this up! I am proud of my muscles and am currently in the best shape of my life. Every thing is better. Even grocery shopping has gotten easier!
I can see big improvements in all your pictures, Ninja, Stella, & Daydreamerx, KEEP IT UP!! This post is to help me stay accountable and after looking at your pics, I think thats what I need to start doing for myself. I'm just not real camera literate, so I'll have to see if I can figure out how to post them !

Alrighty Jess ... I'll play!!!
I am almost 44, about 5'9 and #146.
I spent most of my life as an endurance athlete and only got into lifting because I was losing bone mass .......... needless to say, I have loved it!
I have lifted for three years but only seriously for two and have only within the last year .. dropped the excessive cardio.
The biggest thing I would like to say is that it has truly been thru this board and the wonderful and incredible support here that I have been able to hang with you all!
And a big shout out to EMMA LEIGH for her ridculous amount of patience, her genius wos and for all the internet slaps to the head!!!
and no Chi .. the underwear shot does not need to be any clearer!!!
My goals are to add more mass to the bod!!!
Yes, BIG T, I am eating my MEAT!!!!!

Not sure why, but my post disappeared.
Titania, you are an inspiration, even more so now that I found out how much you were able to accomplish in just a few years! Amazing!

Thanks OG. I was a little surprised myself when I found those 2003 pics! I had forgotten what I looked like then!! I just kinda got used to having the muscles and, believe it or not, I still have my "I'm too small" days
It wasn't just your post. It happened to quite a few posts. I alerted admin to it and apparently the forum has grown to a point where it outgrew the technical limits of the database!! It has now been updated and fixed.
