I'm surely not an expert, however, I DO know that generally cycling is easier on your feet than running, get you a nice road bike, and make sure you are checking your heart rate and push it enough to keeop your heart rate up, it is easy to get LAZY on a bike. That said I love riding a nice cycle....it feels like flying, and you can get in the proper cardio zone and stay in it for hours if you want to.
another tip, if you start riding away from home, and you feel like superman, and your spinning along over 20mph, and you do not feel a lot of wind in your face, turn and ride the OPPOSOTE direction so your going INTO the wind, the time to feel like superman is when you are going TOWARDS home :-).
Cycling helps alleviate boredom while doing cardio because you can get out 25 miles or more from home easily and see now stuff while your exerscising.
Check out local organised rides, they give you mechincal support for breakdowns, and provide food and liquids at the rest stops, many offer say a 7 mile loop, a 20 or so mile loop, and usually a longer one, and lots of other cyclists to socialise with too while riding.
