The 2006 Metallica Tours - (Robert Trujillo)
I've been listening to some bootlegs and watching concert footages lately and I think that Robert Trujillo has made Metallica twice as better than when Jason Newsted was a member. I love Jason, but I don't think songs like "Orion" have been played the way they were played since Cliff Burton has passed away. Trujillo has an amazingly fast and accurate finger picking style.
Also he's is an incredibly down to earth guy, I had a chance to meet him during a Black Label Society concert where he was the guest bass player.

^ Listen to Orion from the music player.

HEs a real good bass player. Jason Newstead played with a pick where as Burton and Trujillo don't. So its unfair to bash their styles. Newstead had some really good songs with metallica.

Oh, no doubt.
I'm in no way bashing Jason anywhere in my post, he's a skilled bass player and would be an awesome additon to any heavy (or non heavy) band. I love his work on the Live **** album and some of the later Metallica albums but I sincerely believe that Robert just makes the band sound better.

I fully agree, Roberts style and playing makes metallicas sound much better. If they can make an that has the bass playing of RtL with the singing of TBA (Hetfield can't sing any other way now) and the guitar work of AJFA then they are taking the right step to being able to kick ass again.
P.S. Jasons in Voivod now and I think they are releasing a new album soon

Whoa, I remember when Newstead was tearing up Phoenix with his first band, "Flotsam and Jetsam". Those guys freaking ripped!

I like Jason better. I don't know about music talents but Jason's stage performance was way better than Cliff or Rob.

i've seen metallica 3 times now and it's been amazing each time. absolutely without a doubt my favorite band by far. i love rob and i'm looking forward to seeing what he brings to the new album but i have to agree that jason did better back-up vocals and cliff was just sick overall. nobody banged their head the way cliff did.

You should all check out Orion from the tour. Robert is f*cking AWESOME in it. I bought the Donington concert from livemetallica.com, and I love it. I'm really glad that Robert is also credited in co-writing "The New Song"
