Home gym outside

Due to no space at all in the garage(5 cars and HOA wont let us park on the street at night) leads me to have to put my gym outside. I have a PowerTec Power Rack on the way and I already have a bench and oly set. Do you think the Rack/Bench/Dumbells/Oly Bar/Weights be okay outside? It NEVER rains here but my only concern is the dew in the morning. What precautions should I take to keep my equipment from getting too damaged? This will only be temporarly because I will be moving out and getting a place soon. I was figuring plenty of tarps and just tarp everything and lay plenty of bricks around the tarp. Any other ideas?

If your moving out soon I would be tempted to wait. I hate rusty crap! However, if money was not a huge issue and you dont mind an upgrade in a few years that ought to work. Besides, I would be more concerned with getting started asap reather than preserving equipment.

I would get a can of WD 40 and spray everything you dont touch regularly. An oil based spray will not allow water to accumulate.

I spray my olympic bars on the colars and near the collars on the bar.

How wet could they get if they are tarped? I mean I know moisture can get in, I just cant see it rusting quickly. I will probably have to upgrade I guess. Although lifting rusted weights looks oldschool and quite badass.

true!

Trust me, it will rust. I just had a leg curl machine sand blasted and powdercoated and had it sitting under my front porch for like 4 days and it never got directly wet and it has rust in some of the corners were the paint had holidays (thin spots)

I had my weight set sitting out by the pool under a large roof enclosure. The whole pool area is screened in.. after about a year everything was rusted... not bad but rusted. The vinyl and rubber pads on benches etc started to deteriorate as well a little. But everything is still very usable, just not as pretty which is fine with me.

BTW, where do you live that it doesn't rain much?

dude i was just doing a search on yahoo for the same thing.

my back yard is about a 1/2 acre and i have room for a great outside gym, i already have the equipment in my garage (squat rack, bench press, 500lbs in weight plates, tricep press down, etc etc) but i wat to put everything outside. I was just thinking that at venice beach theres a outside gym there, even with the salt water and the equipment there it looks pretty good. If i concrete a section of my yard, give it a covering and screeen it in, along with the ability to roll down the sides to cover it, i thought i would be o.k.

by the way i'm in georgia, and yes it rains alot
