Body for Life Program???
Hi
My name is Arron (23 yrs old) and Im new to this site but have been lifting weights for around three years. I have tried numerous programs. Some of which work okay... and other which don’t.
I recently purchased the Bill Phillips 'Body for Life' program and was wondering if anyone who has completed the '12 week challenge' found it to be a good way to build mass?
Some of the pic's inside the cover make me a little sceptical of the whole thing (hard to believe there isn't any anabolic influence in their body growth/sculpture), but Im willing to give it a go I guess.
It consists of working only major muscle groups (2 exercises 6 sets all up)
The weight you lift is based off your own intensity level (5,6,7,8,9,10 - being almost impossible)
Eg.
Bench press;
(set 1 - 12 reps) Level 5 intensity
(set 2 - 10 reps) Level 6 intensity
(set 3 - 8 reps) Level 7 intensity
(set 4 - 6 reps) Level 8 intensity
(set 5 - 12 reps) Level 9 intensity
then you do set 6 with a different exercise (incline dumbbell press) with no break between set 5, with Level 10 intensity and 12 reps.
20 minute cardio 3 times a week.
And your standard 6 meal a day nutrition plan.
Any thoughts, comments or feedback on this?

i used the program and liked it... i was brand new to nutrition and working out so it was a good solid basic plan for me.
I didn't put on mass like those people in the book, but I did cut alot of weight and gain some muscle.
I did just 6 whole food meals a day and no supps.
Hope this helps a little.
You can see my progress pics in my sig...

cheers for the reply.
I saw the progress pics and thats a big change. How long did the transformation take you? and were you following a specific program which you found helped the most?
Im looking at losing a little weight, but my main objective is to put on some size. I need some advise which may help save a little more experimenting. Like I said in my first post, I have tried numerous amounts of things and a lot has been trial and error.

yeah as i stated... my main objective was to lose weight.. i think the program could add mass, but you'd have to eat a lot more. From what i've read, in order to gain mass you must eat... LOTS..
What's your diet look like right now? You may want to look at the 5X5 program many have done here or maybe something like chad waterbury's waterbury method. It's a full body workout that many said they have good gains on.

hey, im thinking of doing the body for life programme.
But in any of the tranformations and success stories u never see any teenagers, does this mean that its not ment for teens?

It is a very good program which i am currently doing. took awhile to find my groove (correctly planning 6 customized meals per day is a pain in the ass). My advice is don't skimp out on the weights. I started with really low weihts, focusing on the number of reps and the results were 'meh'. Once i dialed it up it, the effects were much better. Even if I couldnt do all the reps i just went to set failure.
oh and reagan is the class-A dude that recommended it to me and answered all of my annoying questions. Thanks dude.

my diet is pretty good. I dont have a problem with eating the 6 nutritious meals and staying away from Junk. I could do with a higher amount of carbs but my protein intake is great, dont get me wrong my carb isn't too bad either, I could just have a little more.
I tried the 5x5 when I first started gym (about 3 years ago), it was a great way for me to establish some initial gains... but after a while I felt I wasn't progressing enough. But then again I must admit I wasn't eating anywhere near 6 meals a day... and it defiantly wasn't nutrition I was worried about.
thanks again.

my understanding of 5x5 was 5 x reps, 5 x sets and 5 exercises per major muscle group?
does anyone know where I can get my hands on the 5X5 program and chad waterbury's waterbury method?
