I pity the next generation
The next generation is going to be a lost cause. This one is already so undisciplined and low moral. Plus this society is so over sexualized that I can not imagine trying to raise a kid now, even more ten years from now. I listen to the radio and songs are getting so dirty, and in the morning every talk show is about sex and sex problems, it is disgusting! Even on tv, everywhere! I am a horny fellow too, but sex should be kept behind closed doors, and not talked about EVERYWHERE! It is unescapable. This society is doomed for the next generation

This whole generation is a joke. You know what, if you guys want to nail girls in a spur of the moment, go right ahead. See how far it gets you. Sorry for having morals, and not being an animal. Seems to be the going rate around here. Have funs with your kids, and STD's. But to tell ya' the truth, I doubt any of you are getting laid in the first place. Why? Because a guy who actually does get laid, doesn't have to kiss and tell. Least off all, on the INTERNET! You guys really need to get lives. I can't believe I've even contributed to this garbage. I must be in need of a life of my own, just on the basis of sharing my thoughts with you morons. Have fun bragging to each other about how many sluts in you banged in under 2 minutes. I'm sure it is a great experience for all of you.Look I don't care what you do. Go ahead, bang away at those skeezers. Myself, I don't think it is a good idea to do so. How well could you possibly know a girl after 2 hours? Enough to sleep with her? This is the point I'm trying to get across. What these people seem to not understand is, is that you are sharing your body with someone when you have sex. Plenty of bad things could happen when you do this. How much thought could you possibly give this in what, 2 hours? Oh, and Bruno, I'm quite capable of speaking on my own behalf. I appreciate the help, but I'm not in any real need of it, so thanks, but no thanks. So as of Jul 17, 2006 do what ya' want. You wanna bang sluts after 10 minutes, go right ahead. When you wake up the next morning pissing out razorblades, just remember I told ya' so.

The thing that bothers me is not that the songs are getting too "dirty" or whatever, it's that everything has become so vain and just generally stupid. Stupid songs, stupid TV shows, and young teens nowadays are fuсkin dumbasses

Wow I thought I was the only one who felt like this. I agree with everything above, I hate the way things are now, especially relationship wise (or the lack thereof). The next generation will suck, which is one of the reasons why I dont want kids.

Our society has a sense of "morality" that is truly schizophrenic as it is... Most of the country actually seems to me to regard sex as "evil", but violence is great entertainment.
Remember back when the hidden sex scene was discovered in Grand Theft Auto? You had parents flipping out because the scene in the game depicting two clothed computer game characters humping each other was going to "scar the children playing it". In the game where you murder anyone you feel like, kill cops, and deal drugs, the SEX SCENE is going to scar the KIDS who shouldn't be playing the game in the first place. Why did no one bother to ask why these parents were letting their children play a game that was rated for Age 17 and Up?
On prime time TV, violence is great entertainment, but a surprise shot of Janet Jackson's nipple is again going to "scar the children". Don't get me wrong, I love violent games and movies, however if I had kids, I'd rather them see a naked human being or even two people having sex over someone cutting off another person's head, shooting a full clip of ammo into them, etc.
The sex stuff now in music and pop culture is definitely worded in a vulgar fasion, however plenty of other sucessful-for-a-time societies in the past like the ancient Greeks and Romans were also generally very open about sex, and did just fine for quite a long time. I do agree though that STDs and unwanted children will be running rampant even worse than now if some sort of real sex education is not ever taught in schools (this is going to get me going on parents not talking to/raising their kids any more apparently, otherwise this sort of thing, or any other excuse to teach one form of "morality" or another, should have no place in school at all).
The downfall of the current generation and the ones coming is not going to be from rampant sex as much as it will be from pop culture's (which 90 something % of kids can't resist) sheer embracing of stupidity in EVERY way. It's now cool to underachieve, real actors and actresses, which have been hard enough to come by as it is, are being replaced by idiots like those on "Jackass" to show kids that simply acting like a moron is a great way to make loads of money. MTV and "Rap stars" are bombarding kids with the idea that it's "cool" and even profitable to behave like a criminal in an environment where you don't have to, and would be much more successful in the long run if you didn't. I'm just going to stop now, I really could go on and on here...

Every generation thinks the subsequent generation is in the gutter. Each generation has its own share of problems and ultimately it evens out in the end. Its like the old man who says "In my day, we didn't have computers, cell phones, etc." Yeah, but pops doesnt realize that in his day you had longer deadlines and single tasked a lot of work. Nowadays, computers, cell phones, etc. make deadlines shorter and multi-tasking is the norm. Same thing applies to generations. People in the 70s and 80s thought we were in the trench and we turned out just fine. Now we think the younger kids are all messed up and believe me they will turn out fine. In 15 years they will be the ones bitching about the next generation and the cycle will continue.

Are you aware that there are people in this world that have a severe medical condition which causes them to be that way? My mother for instance is one of those people. She is a truck driver that has bad knees and a bad back from driving the truck but you probably do not care about that case either. Oh well I am not one of those people I am 6'4" 245lbs and I exercise every day. I would love to see you say something like to my mother in front of me. Probably never happen though you are probably just an internet tough guy. I doubt very seriously you would say that to someones face. Just my thought. What do you think. Oh I am sorry you probably do not have a brain. I on the other hand will be happy to buy you a plane ticket to come here and see if you have the nerve to say that to someone I know.

I blame Bush for poor schools but as soon as he's out it's going to back to normal. As for the next generations culture you just have to embrace it because if you don't than your just going to be arguing till you die. You can't be narrow minded. I think this generation of kids will be smarter, but that's just me. I'm 18 and i think my generation is the worst colleges are more expensive compared to people who age 25+. Poor public schools and era of no exercise. I lived through fastfood era so i've probably have a decent amount of fat built in my arteries already. Materialism, well i guess the next generation will face materialism and insercurities more than us. Also as a 18 year old i felt as if i was encouraged to be passive and lazy through technology instead of taking advantage.

Even if i have positive outlook and speculate that the US will get better i still won't have more than two kids. I wouldn't want my kids grow through what i've been through. Highschool was honestly the most worstless 4 years in my life. I graduate and i feel like i accomplished jack. Now... i want a job, but i need experience, skills, and 6 more years of school. Our country is always about competition and who gets more money.

Natural disasters happen all the time i don't blame that either. Rap music isn't the blame either. You can make the case for heavy metal and punk music too.
It's because Bush isn't advanceing what's happening inside the U.S.. Richer get richer and poorer get poorer. Nation is split into two liberals and conservatives.

I see what you're saying but future generations are going to have tons of trouble.
- Families in the 60s and 70s had low divorce rates and the man of the house was a role model for his children. He showed them the meaning of responsibility but not abandoning his kids and by giving them a safe house, 3 square meals a day, education and he loved his wife. Now-a-days, divorce rates are out of the f*cking roof, kids eat whatever the f*ck they want (mainly junk food), education no longer seems to be the focus and with a divorce, it's very hard for parents to show that they love each other in front of their kids. Parents give up too easy on their marriages these days.
- Like someone else mentioned in an earlier post, acting like a criminal is considered cool by kids these days. I don't see how being a thug in suburban America is a real necessity? I can understand kids that grow up in tough neighborhoods acting tough but suburban kids need to STFU and get their **** together.
- MTV. Enough said. Every year, MTV creates shows that are dumber than the previous year. Sadly, these are the shows that influence a large number of kids in America and around the world. Dumbest f*cking channel ever.
- Everybody is interested in gettin rich quick. Nobody wants to work hard, go through school, get good grades and then apply for good jobs. I don't blame them because good grades don't seem to matter anymore. It's all about who you know and not what you know that will help you get a job. Sad but very true. That's why you see 15,000 people selling random **** on e-bay calling themselves entrepreneurs. The first 10 were entrepreneurs, the rest of them are f*cking copycats.
- Video games. I was a big fan of video games as a kid but playing outdoor games was way up the list than sitting at home and playing video games. Kids these days hardly ever play outside and with the advancement of graphics and game play, I don't blame them either. A fat kid sitting at home munching on a candy bar and playing video games is a big problem due to the fact that his parents are divorced. Not only that, while the kid is plugging his arteries with every bite of 3 Musketeers he takes, his mom or dad is out on a date on a wednesday night trying to get some action. This severe lack of responsibility is what's f*cking it all up.
- Teachers really try very hard. In fact, if anyone should get paid more money, it's teachers. Especially high school teachers. High-school teachers put up with a lot of **** from students.
- Another thing that someone mentioned earlier was sex. Somehow, this total self-absorption with sex is destroying our society. Sex is good but in moderation. Anything is good in moderation. Girls as young as 11 years old know what sex is and want to dress like a slut. Now that's sad.
Now imagine an oversexed population that watches MTV (with dumbass shows with half naked women and non-existent plots) and that plays video games and skips homework while there is no supervision from either parent and eats junk/fast food as a meal and watches porn while acting like a "thug". You will understand why the future looks bleak.

Yea it's pretty much a social war at ourselves in the U.S. We have the good kids that are smarter and more obedient than ever, but then we have the bad kids have kids at an early age and kids that don't do jack in school. The worst thing is we alienate each other. I don't know if it's going to get worst over time because surely people will realize that were getting back to Civil Rights except this time it's called social acceptence.

All these problems that younger generation come directly from how they grow up. It's actually our fault and the schools fault. Parents no longer eat at home as much anymore and go out more. Parents seem to just want to have fun and act selfish instead of focusing what's good for the kid. Hell if i was still in Highschool i would want a different system with less breaks, stricter codes, stricter disciplines. Highschool is already hell as it is and doing this will help the future generations.

Schools already strict infact probably too strict. Actually nevermind what I said was dumb we're not strict at all when compared to japan.
Edit: Making schools stricter won't fix any of our problems it will just make them worse cause more kids will fail.

I agree with all of you. I know many will not agree with me on this next point, but I feel myspace is only going to make this worse. Everyone talks all dirty to each other and everything is sexualized on there. If I had a kid, I would never let them on that site, but that is another thread, and that one would put me even deeper in the red. Anywho, I agree with all of you. MTV is a huge blame I feel.
Also, the materialism some of you mentioned. Cell phones were nonexistant like 10 years ago, now everyone has one, and therefore has to talk to someone at every waking moment, while driving, etc. They need music on their phone, and cameras and games on it. Need the news on it, everything. It is ridiculous. A simple phone is not enough. You need it to direct you on every move of your life. This generation is only going to get more materialistic as well. I dread this future. I think I am the only one left without a cell phone as it is lol

I have to disagree. We have to embrace technology and embrace entertainment like MTV. You might not like it but you should respect what people like because your only alienating those people. How is school strict enough? I hated Highschool and i didn't make the best grades, but it's way to lenient. At the age of 18 you'd expect to have atleast some marketable skills . I say by age 14 is when you start college and college is mandatory. In middle school from 5th to 8th grade i learned the same math over and over again now ain't the just wrong. You should have atleast college algebra skills by the time you hit 9th grade. And none of the BS general ed classes that have nothing do with people's major.

It's a little bit of both as far as school goes. They enforce stupid rules while letting people who need to be taught a lesson to get away with it.
