Should i buy Tanita BIA Scale ?
Have anyone used any of Tanita BIA scales to estimate Body Fat % ?
I know that it could easily give inacurate results, but could i use it to monitor progress given that the results are consistent ??
appreciate your reply,
Regards,
Amr

The one I have is very inaccurate and inconsistent as well. It routinely gives me a 16-16.5% body fat reading when i'm more around 10 or 11% and then it will even give me a significantly different estimate if I use it twice in a row, sometimes varying 2% in measurements taking 5 seconds apart.

I disagree with everybody in here and Tanita scales. The scales work, if they didnt nobody would use them, most gyms use them, doctors use them, and i have used it for over 3 years now. Its not 100% accurate but you know what youve done. I like to average the results. I usually just weigh myself at the same time every day, and then average the results a week. Its a great and easy tool to use.

It's a matter of consistency, if the scale would give consisten readings, then it can be used to monitor body fat. Yet, wouldn't indicate the exact percentage. If it gives you 40% bodyfat, thats a lot of error, but have u tried different conditions (Morning, Before/After meals, Before/After workout, etc... ) ?? Adel mentioned that he averages his readings over a week which is a good idea i belive. but again, is it consistent ??

Amr

The body fat reading is not consistant. I remember one day it said i was 18% and i knew it was wrong, so immediately i went on again. The 2nd time it gave me a reading of 14%. A bit better but im guessing i was closer to 10%.
Anyway on the box it even says not intended for athletes. That would include bodybuilders.

I wouldn't use a scale to measure bodyfat I get mine done by a personal trainer at my gym. Yeah it is probally off too but who cares I think it is more acurate than a digital scale.
