Busta Rhymes - The Big Bang
Great CD! The worst songs BY FAR are the ones getting the most radio play (I love my B*tch, Touch it) ... so you can imagine I was a bit skeptical before purchasing this CD, but after a quick rundown of the tracks (and later, full listens) .. I have come to the conclusion that this is a good cd.
Again, not including the 2 radio hits on the CD, this album has it all and then some. It also doesn't hurt having Dr. Dre behind a few of the beats and being the executive producer of the entire cd ... well ok, it actually helps ALOT!
Lyrically, it's on point. A few guest appearences, but they are all worthwhile, and not just 'fillers' like many other albums. I especially like the last track where the shovel and burying noises are incorporated into the song...hard to explain, but it really is amazing, and somewhat scary. (you have to listen to understand)
Musically, this is where the CD raves in my opinion. Me, being a producer, I am VERY critical of the music, producers, mixing/mastering, and overall sonic quality .... that being said, this CD fullfills all of that. "After the Storm" (produced by sha money xl) is one of the best songs i've heard in a very very long time. Stevie Wonder is amazing on this, and he's talking about the ghetto!! This CD sounds great, and was obviously engineered/mixed by some of the best, and it definately shows.
Overall, the replay value is pretty damn good. There are a few 'filler' type songs, and the radio singles are both trash, but the other 5-6 tracks definately make up for it big time, mainly because they are executed so wonderfully, both lyrically, and sonically.
That being said, i'd reccomend buying this album and supporting Busta on this one, because he definately deserves the torch for the work he put in throughout the years!
