What to expect at your first BB comp?

Please understand it is raining out side, so I am just sitting here day dreaming. I was looking at a schedule of up coming Natural Body Building competitions and seen there are a few of them near my home. Next I noticed that some of them will be right at the one year mark, from when I started letting the air out of this hot air baloon called a mid section. Well any way the schedule said:

check in and test 10 am.
Pre qualification 12 noon
show 6 pm.

What should or would a person want to expect and should know if they were to sign up for their very first competition?

If check-in and test are at 10 am, pre-judging is at 12 then that leaves little time for pre-judging, unless it's a small show.

Contest (pre-judging and nite show) never start on time. Also, you have to be back an hour before the night show for the meeting.

If you are in the open class you will probably have your pre-juding round about 2or 3 pm, then you have to be back at 5 pm for the meeting and night show. That leaves little time for going back to the room and having to re-prep for the night show.

All the natural show's I've competed in, we did the drug test the night before to allow for more time during the day.

Competing is exhausting and I would choose a show with a little more relax time. But that's just me.

Thanks MsFit, I was surprised to see that the majority of the shows on the list I looked at where of that schedule.

Your pictures and writing are inspirational to say the least, I have gone to your site a number of times.

Thanks

gymstud2002 is on a distinguished road. (+10)
TwoWalks -- Suggest you go to at least one comp as an observer to see how they work. You'll probably be able to tell who's experienced and who's not. Often the first-timers are not prepared and to be blunt about it, make asses of themselves. They may not be in contest condition, don't know how to pose, no color, too much oil, etc. You'll get a a good idea of what it takes to compete and whether you want to try it. If you do, go for it hard and have fun! There's a lot to learn, but it can be very self-satisfying.
