thank god for this guys! up untill now iv been training in the gayest gym you cold ask for. the dumbells only went up to 25kg, and if you used them people would stop and stare at you.
the entire gym was cardio machines, or resistance machines, all of which matched the wallpaper. we had 2 bars in the entire gym, one ez curl bar, and one straight bar, and only enough weight to go up to 100kg.
the gym itself was full of old people who only wanted to go on running machines, or do 200 reps at 5kg on the peck deck...
if you even touched the free weights section everyone would just stare at you, and the available plates in the corner actually had cobwebs on them (untill one of the guys took a feather duster on them to keep it all looking pretty)
BUT NO MORE! iv finally joined a good gym. in mow training out of cheetahs gym in hove. may i personally reccomend it to anyone. i cant describe the immense pleasure it gives me to go from one gym that had nothing, to a gym with everything.
the old basement/boiler room has been converted into a dumbell room/smith machine room, also with cables and preacher benches. (and the dumbells go up to like 80 kg i think ?!?!)
then the next level has 3 seperate rooms. 1 whole section (as big as my last gym) just for legs, 1 whole section for only chest and 1 whole section for only back and shoulders.
go upstairs another level and you got 1 huge room which has only got benches with hooks and squat racks.
another further level is an entire floor of cardio machines, which is like double the size of my old gym!
finally, they have a boxing gym, a supplement shop and a smoothie bar!
it was an emotional expereince when i walked downstairs, not knowing what to expect and seeing the equipment i had only seen on training videos in golds gym, or read about on this website! i actually think this will be the mostt important change iv made in terms of perfecting my physique (well aside from diet

)
another weird thing... its an odd experience being one of the smallest guys in the gym!!! anyone ever get that. im not exactly a begginer, and have some size... at my old gym i was the biggest guy there by far, and now im the shrimp!
i made a complete ass of myself when training tho. in my old gym we diddnt have olympic bars, so im not used to their added weight, they weigh like 20/25kg right?
well i had warmed up on dumbell press, so i moved over to the bench, and loaded 45kg on each side! (the bar in my old gym only weighed like 5kg) and went to go for like 6-8 reps... managed to struggle out 1, got up and looked around.
one of the huge gym regulars looked at me, smiled and said "mate, did you used to train at a pansy gym?" when i replied yes, he said "the bars here weigh 25kg mate, your trying to rep 250lb"
(and i am aware that there will be people here who can rep 250, but i cant

)
