My last cig will be Dec 2006
I tell people at work that my newyears resolution for 2006, was to not be smoking by newyears of 2007 ... they look at me like im crazy, but i have good reasoning!
When you quit smoking, in most cases you gain weight, for debatable reasons.
And a body packed with mass burns more calories. See where im going with this?
I began my weight training in dec 2005 and gave myself one year to put on anough mass, and train myself to eat better/cleaner.
I have actually made great progress and look forward to quitting! I eat very clean, put on some very good mass, and have very good workout/cardio practices.
So July 1st (allowing 6 months) i will begin my taper and by Dec 2006 i will have my last smoke, ever.
Wish me luck!
Had nothing else to post about, thought id share this info.
Jack the Repper, will be smoke freeeeeeeee!!!

Good luck man, Been trying to get my parents to quit smoking for most of my life. Hang in there it remembers it just like training stick with it one day at a time and you can do anything you want.

I know you say December and all but here's some food for thought.
My parents have been smoking most of their lives and so does my brother now.
My dad went in once for a checkup and they did a scan and found a spot on my dad's lungs. They didn't know what it was but they thought they would have surgery to REMOVE part of his lungs just in case. When he got home he threw away all of his cigarettes and hasn't smoked since. Lucky the spot wasn't cancer.
I have his build, very scrawny, it takes me around 3300 or so calories to put on weight. He has never had much of a belly in his life until now, and he is around 58 years old. Even though I poke fun about it sometimes, it makes me happy.
MY mom on the other hand lost her mother to cancer(throat/mouth from smoking) near Christmas, a few years back. It was somewhat unexpected and sudden, even though she had been battling cancer off and on for a good part of about 20 years.
When she was diagnosed with cancer roughly 20 years ago, she quit smoking cold turkey.
So even though it's great you're saying next year and all, keep in mind things can and do happen, and procrastinating never really helped anyone.
God bless.

nicottene is out of your system in 72 hours anything after that is purely mental, cigs are a social aspect and the hardest thing is not smoking when on the phone or driving or whatever your used to

Also a 6 month taper sounds like a really long time to fall off the bandwagon
