Post all the tips you learned from basketball here. Shooting, Dribbling, Defense

I'll start with a few things people told me.

Shooting:

Practice shooting with one hand under the rim.

Take 500 shoots from the same spot everyday.

Practice the basics and form to get better at jumpshots, fadeaways etc.

When you post up go up strong with your arm. Block with one arm and shoot with the other.

Dribbling:

Practice with your eyes closed.

Use tennis balls to practice.

Practice dribbling on grass. Like a field thats bumpy and short grass you can dribble on.

Defense:

Look at the opponents chest.

Keep one hand up to block shots.

A lot of it seems to be having the energy to get in there and cover. With shot blocking it easy to block for me when I chase them from behind when someone is going for a lay up and block hard from the behind. Same with shooting it's really hard for me to block inless it's from behind or the side.

highflyer2234 is not very well liked. (-100)
Shooting: have a set workout to do everyday or as often as possible, mine takes 70 minutes with my ball handling and covers everything i need shooting off the dribble, catch and shoot off screens, off dribble beating a defender, pull ups, etc..., all at game speed, plus free throws in between every drill

ball handling: i found the best way to improve is to go full speed at whatever drill you are doing, and making mistakes will only improve your handle, and when playing pick up, try and work out of your comfort zone on things you normally wouldnt do

defense: always keep your left hand up to contest a shot for right hand shooter, and right hand for left handed shooter

thats about it

what I found to be productive is to practice one thing every day. This is of course in addition to practice and games.

day 1 shooting fouls/3 pointers/ finding your sweet spot/ and making shots from different spots.
day 2 layups
day 3 dribbling
day4 turn arounds, practicing game situations
day 5 defense

but remember you also have to play all that is simply prep work which is good but you still have to play ball with others to put all that to use. I can throw awesome shots in practice but if it doesnt come out in the game its worthless.

Another thing is dont rush your practice. Practice form so that when it comes to the game its all natural. And you dont have to think about it.

wow I never really thought about lifting as playing basketball but its starting to make sense. The lifting part.
