Catabolism and Jogging

Does catabolism occur at a linear rate regardless of how much muscle mass or bodyfat % you carry?

i.e.

1. Steve, whom is 180 lbs and 20% BF and jogs for 60 minutes with a HR of 160 avg.

2. Steve, whom is 155 lbs and 9% BF and jogs for 60 minutes with a HR of 160 avg.

Considering the person is the same, would a higher amount of catabolism occur in situation two when he has a lower BF %?

I'm asking this because I do alot of jogging as it's a passion of mine and I feel it's paramount to my overall health and the way I feel. I don't seem to see any catabolic effects, but am worried as I get closer to a lower BF %.

i think it would have more to do with diet than overall bf%.
assuming that steve at 20% eats more calories than steve at 9% he should be able to jog with less risk of catabolism. having said that someone with more muscle mass would suffer catobolism at a higher rate

Yeah, it makes sense that the higher amount of muscle mass would suffer greater effects of catabolism.

I've heard some people reporting that 3-4 times a week of jogging robbed them on 5lbs of muscle a week.

I'm 176 lbs at 17% bf, and I'm only eatting 1800ish calories a day, jogging 4-5 times a week at about 500-600 calories a jog. I'm also lifting at about 300-400 calories a lift 5 times a week but I'm hard pressed to lose more than 1-1.5 lbs a week. Furthermore my biceps and all my measurements are still going up and not down.. I'm just scared that sooner or later catabolism will start to kick in a little more.

5lbs a week is alot! ouch that would hurt
if your cutting you're gonna lose some muscle just keep an eye on it. if you lose too much lay off the jogging a bit.

You're running 5 days a week and lifting 5 days a week? You're at least scratching catabolism. In my opinion 2 cardio sessions a week are plenty.
