Girl Needs Help..Do I cut out All Sugar? Help.

Hey everyone. I love this site. I already have 2 pages of notes :-) You guys are soooo knowledgeable.
I am female 5'4" 116. Used to fast a lot..especially when I was a model yearrrs ago..but, every now & then, at this point. Always worked out...bought supplements/fat burners, etc. Always have been into it and stayed fit. Sometimes, I get too busy and miss several days of work outs. What I call fat, my Pro friends say is water. I've bought over the counter diuretics..[using one now] and this week, I'm doing HOODIA..app' suppressant. My goal is to get down to 100 lbs and get as toned as possible. Just Ripped.

I don't like my scrawny actress friends' bodies..[they have no form, no muscle and are just Boney!] But prefer the Figure & Fitness competitors' bodies. I love the gymnast's body, also. If I can get the body of the fitness girl in the "Fahrenheit" commercial..I will be satisfied. The only celeb's bodies I admire are Madonna & Janet Jackson--[when she's not eating fried chicken and biscuits and cake.] :-)
All the other chicks on these shows, in films, and singers..Do Not impress me.

I don't do steroids & not interested in getting that massive. I've been to a friend's show, loved it, & thought about competing..but, can't as I'm too busy. I stray from being strict on eating at times when I go out to dinner with a guy..but, I've fine tuned my eating even at restaurants, now. I go straight to salads, fish, or eggs. I don't do beef, chicken or pork..have totally cut out sodas for about a year now..and don't buy juices. I do Vitamin water, and the lite Gatoraids..I make fresh green tea almost daily. If I ever do cereal it is Cheerios, and I use vanilla lite soy drink in it. Never milk. I have totally fine-tuned my eating and feel I do OK. I never do fast foods..rarely sweets..and never sweets at restaurants after dinner.
OK, whew my question is...do I have to cut out ALL the sugar? I don't buy regular sugar anymore and buy Stevia, Organic evaporated cane juice and fructose from Whole Foods. I NEVER use artificial sweeteners anymore since reading about it basically poisoning us. I was a devoted Splenda user and once I did the research, I dumped it all. And found out about natural sweeteners. But, I can NOT drink tea without something in it. So, therefore, I'm using some kind of sweetener everyday. I also drink chocolate soy drink very often which has well over 20 something carbs. 2 glasses and I'm at over 50 carbs just in that drink. So, is it ok to use these natural sweeteners?
I've read on here, that green tea is good for fat burning or something..do U drink it with nothing in it? It seems I can not eliminate alllll the sugar from my life..and am I even supposed to?

=if u've read all of this, I really appreciate it. :-) Thaaanxx guys!

Hi SandDoll. Welcome. I read the whole thing

Seems like you have it together. Very impressive. Just from my limited perspective, I respectfully think that 100 lbs may be a little too light.

Your current weight seems to be smurfect. Maybe just some slight redistribution at that weight and I am sure you will be even more of a knockout.

Sugar is calories and that is all we need to know on them unless we have medical concerns, with that said what your looking for is more calories burned than put in but don't starve yourself or your body will begin to conserve.
This will make that last few pounds even harder to loose. Just eat right and monitor your intake with your expenditure as this is (very) important to know at your stage of fitness and goals.

You obviously know how to eat right so just get it on paper so you know for sure where your numbers are and adjust and workout accordingly. Most women will find it to be 50% diet and 50% exercise and men seem to float at 75% diet and 25% exercise but they are just numbers take them for what you will. HTH

With all due respect, I don't see how you are going to get the body you want unless you clean up your act a lot. Occasional fasting, hoodia, diuretics, etc., are all a recipe for "skinny fatness" and not for the fitness look you are going for... not to mention inherently unhealthy. At 5'4" and 114 you don't need to lose any weight -- I think you will look skeletal at 100 pounds and likely will still have some lower ab fat, as this is where the body hangs onto fat when it is being starved or malnourished.

If you are serious about your goals, then post your workout (including your split, exercises and cardio) and your diet, like this:

meal 1, time, foods
meal 2, time, foods

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but the first element to looking fit and healthy is actually being fit and healthy.

What she said!

This is not my area of expertise- ask anyone on this forum - but you can learn a LOT by listening to the young lady posting above me. She knows her s**t!

One mistake I see alot of people making is to equate a certain level of fitness with a certain weight. You're within the healthy range of the Body Mass Index chart so, don't worry about the weight, just go for the muscular look you want.

You're not going to get the results you want by doing some trick with your diet or taking magic pills. You need to pump iron hard and feed your muscles so they can grow. When you eat less, the things you eat become more important. Sugar is empty calories so why eat it? That being said hey, a little sugar in your tea won't kill you.

Thumbs up

Like db said, you won't find the body you seek in a pill. You'll find it in a good diet, exercise and good sleep habits.

100lbs at 5'4" would be scrawny, formless, lacking muscle and boney. With a decent amount of lean mass, you can easily carry 120lbs on a 5'4" frame.

No Not Scrawny! But Thanx 4 The Tips!

I've been 100 lbs. before and loved it.
Maybe it will look scrawny on girls without a rear-end, a flat chest, and who don't work out..but, only starve themselves.
My ethnicity and genetics keep me from "looking scrawny."

Personally, I prefer a somewhat supermodel type of body, however, very toned, with added muscle. I like a tiny frame...I'm not into being 130 pounds..EVER! Whether, it means, it's all 130 pounds of muscle or not..it's WAY too big for me. Maybe, if I were 5'10"--but I'm not. I do not want to feel Heavy..or look Stocky..or short & dumpy..at that weight, I will. In addition to that, it pushes me into clothing that's a few sizes bigger. That weight is about a size 7-9..I take it. I have no interest in being a size 9. I'm a 2, 4....113 lbs. now, and will be a solid 2 shortly. Not interested in being a size zero..just a solid 2! I know exactly what I want and how I want to look just like the guys on here who are trying to get at the top of their game..[as lean as possible, as big, as muscular, etc.& doing everything they can to get it.] They know exactly what they want...as, do I.

I feel, people/women's preferences in body type are different, in different parts of the country. I'm in Los Angeles...in the Entertainment industry...so, U can only IMAGINE how it is here. LOOKS, body,THIN, HOT...is pretty much what it's about. 130 pounds??? U may be considered FAT out here...or simply, too big. Toooo muscular...& the industry looks at U like U're a "Freak Show." U will not get work. But, being small, extremely fit n' toned with a kick ass Hot body...works! And, it works well, out here. Just look thru' "Stuff & Maxim"... U'll get the message!
[Brooke Burke, Heidi Klum, Carmen Electra, Vivica Fox, Pam, Demi, Jessica Alba, Playboy Playmates...All the Victoria's Secret chicks, etc.] They're on every "HOT" list in America. None, are very muscular...but, all considered very hot!

However, I notice when I travel to other cities...everybody's huge...and it's the norm. 150-180 pounds and possibly more seem to be most women's weight and what everyone is used to seeing. If U're slightly under that...they think U are too skinny. And, many guys in those areas like Bigger girls. That's what they're used to & that's all they see..therefore, what they are attracted to.
I can respect the discipline and training, etc. of female Body Builders... I love the shows and always love seeing them perform. I don't have any negative feelings or opinions of them.. it's just simply not my look.
So, to each his own!

Mark1T & Tomos, thank U guys for your comments and info. I appreciate it. Others, thanks for your tips and advice, as well. However, many female gymnasts are below 120 lbs..and definitely aren't "skinny fat" they are toned as hell..even at 100 lbs. Pretty much where I'd like to go! I'm not shooting for scrawny, etc.--- I will bump up the weight and do more smaller meals.
The fasting was never often...but helps to drop some pounds that I want off.
On the 2nd day of it..I'd eat peanut butter..a high protein/20 carb meal bar, protein drinks and possibly tuna & egg whites. So, I don't go days and days without AnYthing. But, I realize the metabolism shuts down...so, I will take U all's advice and eat! :-)

Thanks guys..U're very helpful!

Take care everybody!

But Los Angeles is a city that is considered pretty far away from "reality"... you know what I mean? Celebrities do not represent what is normal. Heck, some of them are far from living healthy, despite what the cameras and media tell.

Good luck in your endeavors. In other parts of the country and the world, people have different priorities than those in "the Entertainment Industry"... This is a bodyBUILDING forum, so I think you might not get the responses that you seek.

I Know What Kind Of Site This Is Honey!

I'm not looking for a specific response, at all, sweetie.
And, I know what kind of site it is.
I sought advice on SUGAR consumption..[here & another thread area, as well,] gave info of my background & what I'd like as far as weight and body and the WOMEN were the ones with negative comments and who attacked. Which is Incredible to me.
Los Angeles is what it is..& of course, most women do not look like the ones out here..but MANY of them TRY.

The models, actresses and pop stars usually lead the way and inform/show the rest of the world what's in right now. What's trendy--what look is in & what's out. Yes, many of them might be unhealthy...far from reality & don't represent what is normal...but, others try hard as possible to look like them. Wear what they wear...eat what they eat, purchase cosmetics and colognes that they wear or sell. They set the trend. Clothes, hair, and body. Back in the 60's everybody wanted to look like Twiggy..she was a stick..but because the supermodel star chick looked like that..Many others wanted to.
Now, J-Lo..huge "rear"...Currently, surgeons out here are providing Butt-implants..for those who want J-Lo's rear. Unbelieveable. But, admit it or not..that's the way it is. And, if U recall, I stated in my opening thread...that I DID NOT want to look like them and that I prefer the fitness/figure body, instead.

The priorities aren't THAT much different...as, it seems everyone on this site..pretty much..is super concerned with their bodies. Not that much different than Hollywood. I've read threads where people are extremely nit-picky over the body fat %. The # suuure seems real important. The amount of weights used, exactly how many reps, exactly how much cardio to burn exactly how much fat. So, come on! Is it REALLLY that much different?
Bottom line, people are concerned with how they look, as well as how healthy. And, some people will get it however they see fit. And,
Don't even get me started on the guys [and females] I know, and who are on here who are on steroids.
They're doing whatever they feel they need to..to get where they're trying to get to...to each his own..but, this TOO...is far from reality for most people!

Everyone's free to give whatever opinion they want..I'm not on here looking for WHAT I want to Hear...only to learn..n' get pointers and tips!
I'll talk to my Grandma' if I want to only hear what I want to hear...she'll tell me how fabulous I am..& of course, tell me I don't need to do anything at all..that I'm fine the way I am. ;-)
But, who wants to hear that? I'd rather listen to U guys...for the real advice.

Take care!

5'4" at 100lbs = scrawny. It is unrealistic to think that you could be 100lbs and 5'4" while being "ripped". No "fitness/figure body" is going to be 100lbs. By the way, this is a duplicate thread, and before you call anyone in THIS thread "ugly" and bash them like you have in the other, I suggest you consider the fact that even the people who are saying things you don't want to hear are here because they want to help.

Duplicate thread -and- duplicate posts.

Those two things usually hit my troll button pretty hard.

Not to mention the ludicrous 5'4" 100 lb thing.

Even with a small frame, 100lbs on 5'4" is in eating disorder land..

If she is who I think she is, then yeah, troll thread from someone with an eating disorder who has had at least 6 other usernames banned.

Only time will tell.

sounds like you NEED to have your bodyfat levels tested before you do anything else concerning your diet. Given your past that you brought up you are a prime candidate for skinny fat body. You mentioned you would not mind weighing 130lbs if you were 5"10?? Are you kidding me. That is a formless rail as well with no arms and no legs to speak of as far as muscle. The same way you will look at your 5'4 at 100lbs. Your arms might look like noodle. Kinda like paris hilton which to me is too damn skinny.Seen my gf pics? She is 135 to 138lbs 5' tall and a size 4 with 38D's ! Sand doll remember muscle is more dense then fat. The woman you mentioned on the farenhite ad might wiegh up to 150lbs. Do you realise that? Check you BF levels before you go any further would be my sound advise to you after being involved in bodybuilding for 35 years

Take care!

OK you want Truth. Dont take offense then. First of all DBFLgirls post was the best advice you got on here so far #1. #2 If your goal is to live the superficial California La scene go for it, and this is not the place to ask for advice. If you are in that LA frame of mind which you seem to be (Yes I know what Im speaking of having spent large amount of time in the great southern California/greater LA region where they thing the US revolves around them, when in fact you guys are basically living a lie you created around your hollywood vanity type of thinking) then I suggest you get lots of caffine, ephadra, and diet pills, gag yourself with a spoon once in a while and practice bulemia.

To compare people as a whole on here compared to the greater LA Hollywood self obcessed, vanity plate driving, self consumed community is just flat out wrong. People on here are health concerned!!!The greater LA? Hollywood crown is image concerned only!

Please at 5'4" tall even if you are small framed with an light framed Asian or Indian, no way you can say you can use the word muscle and and be 100 lbs at 5'4"! Its just impossible. Miss Figure competitors have more muscle than the average woman, and leaner by fare than your average LA bulemic, yet at 5'4" would still weigh 112-120 lbs. Not trying to bust you *ss here but your reequests and posts just are not realistic, and quite frankly unhealthy. I dont care what you think, but if you were 100 lbs at 5'4" you may think you looked good, but Im telling you that you didnt! In fact Id bet you were on the verge or mildly anemic at that height and weight. Get over the #'s on the scale as it doesnt mean a thing. For example: Many Indian teens and young women weigh ideal or lower than ideal weight ranges for thier height...but body fat % reveals they are at 30% bodyfat range wearing a size 2 at 5'5" tall...yes you can look thin and have a small size and still be very unhealthy....If the image the look is all you care of then just ask any old woman driving through Los Angeles in a convertible BMW or Benz...cause when I lived there I never met one that wasnt on some type of speed, water pill etc and ate the occasional salad 3x a week and drank diet coke all day. At 100 lbs and 5'4" ...thats unhealthy..period. And on this site...from my experience...even though many here are on gear, many have different approaches...the one common factor most have is we are health concious. From reading your posts, health is not a concern to you, just image.

Finally is sugar bad. Well, I cant beleive you even asked that question. What did your Mom tell you, your dentist, your doctor, or every other health expert ever say?

Finally again, let me say, if you are serious...re read DBFLgirls post...thats the first step in changing your physique, and doing it the correct way.

Can you tell from my last post I wasnt fond of the resident while living in the greater Los Angeles/ Hollywood area?

So that would be artifice, self-indulgence and self-absorption. Good thing most of the folks here can't counsel you on how to achieve that.

man some of you guys are kinda harsh. the other thread was in a different subforum, maybe she just wanted some feedback from a different audience. maybe she just has alot on her mind and wants to get it off her chest, and the post was very polite and civil.

i love how some people make a point to call people out as trolls. almost as if they follow them around the forums looking for them to do something wrong just to boost their own ego. live and let live, if it doesn't interest you, dont click the thread.

just my .02

If you knew about this particular person's backstory, you would see why it is important to point out that she is not who she says she is.

i guess you are entitled to your opinion, and i can respect that, but the way i look at it, there has been some nice info posted in this thread, especially from "30-A rider". even if the threadstarter is just trolling, there is always a good chance that someone else reading this thread who may be in a similar situation learned a thing or two from it.

(imo) even if there is only one person on all of bb.com who reads this thread and learns something new, it was worth the time spent to all who contributed

Hey now, I wasn't saying the thread wasn't worthwhile - it certainly is worth the time spent in replies. My point in mentioning that the user is possibly a well-known troll was in case she started responding to people in this thread like she did in the other - calling them ugly and fat because they weigh more than 100lbs and think that 100lbs is too skinny.

well i guess ill give her the benefit of the doubt. imo, this is a different thread, and i'll give her a clean slate until she actually commits the actions you assume she will commit.

with that said, i dont think we are going to get anywhere continuing this arguement, i think we both know that we have very different ways of looking at things (based on past threads ).

and even if i argue with someone in one thread, ill put the grudge behind me and approach every new thread with an unbiased and open mind. (that applies to you as well )

Hello everyone. This is my acual first post and I have been coming here for a while and reading post, but this one requires my imput (IMO).

SandDoll, with all due respect-Your statements are grossly misinformed as well as your view of LA and Hollywood. Plus from further reflection, your physical body as well as your mental wellbeing are or can be in a constant state of jeopardy if your current ideal logy persists pretaining to proper health. Good health and proper lifestyle protocols are estimable installments needed to achieve your wants or desired goals (or the ones so you desperately seek stated above.) What you really fail to see my friend is the fact that your subconscious screams out for help in your typing. Your outburst and lack of listening (respect) is an outlet for your physical body’s cry for help! People with eating disorders always use this type of behavior as an outlet as ventulation on fitness forums. Why are you so quick to assume everyone wants you a 130 pounds or a size 7-9?

Now I care about your well being as most everyone here does too. We are here to help you with proper information. I believe you really want help otherwise you wouldnt be here. Let me say this then I must go (time). I do a lot of nutrition protocols for some women in LA (such as Hawaiian Tropic models and Pro fitness/figure girls) and none of them weigh anywhere you say! And now when I re read your post, I know a lot of the people stated too...lol, anyway...yes I can prove this.

The fact is this…. I do not have currently have one “LA” actress, model or figure girl under a body weight 115 pounds. It is nearly an impossible task to achieve without sacrificing a lot of lean tissue (that fit look…you like) and a lot of health to the immune system. It is not reality. FYI-my shortest model is barely over 5’0 and at your current weight. So this lead me to do some more due diligence on the rest of my clients and friends to ensure you werent lead some false or misinformation was dispensed…. Also, (FYI) my girl friend (Krissy Chin) is one of the supplement industries top models. She currently does ads (fat burner ads) for sports supplement companies for products such as Redline, Venom, ect and she is 5’3 and weighs 132 pounds and wears a size zero! (Sometimes a size two in the off-season).

See attached picture. So again, please just listen, maybe there can be a happy medium here for all of us.

SandDoll, just try to remember this, the best bodies in the world get to grace the covers of health and fitness magazines. These bodies belong to fitness and figure models here. So maybe your (old-world) school of thought on this subject is not flat anymore…Maybe the world is round? Now for the truth and something for you to ponder also....I Live in South Beach and we have the dense population or ratio of the country's models living here...wanna talk about competivitive relations? You have no ideal, but none of them weigh anywhere you think. The trends set forth by ocean Drive and such are only second to Paris. Not LA...LA follows somewhere behind NYC and South Beach.....just being truthful

Warm Regards-

PS-pm me if you need more proof of my statement. I am not here to spam. But to live, love and be happy and to enjoy BB.com

LOL, thanks I'll be sure to let her know

I really dont post a lot because of "backlash" . I try to avoid it (besides when you reach a certian point it becomes redundant). I really felt this time it was needed. She comes seeking advice but yet wont listen openly.
In my countless years doing this, This behavior is the only thing that truly holds anyone back from attaining their weight/health goals.

Hell, if the workload was easy, we all would be on ads or mag. covers!

Have a wonderful day guys!
warm regards~
