Yawning?
Here's a strange one that another thread made me think of: Many times when I go to start my workout I suddenly feel kind of tired. I've been hyped for it all day, but sure enough, I get tired about an hour before I know I've got to bust my tail. Expectations maybe? I don't know.
Anyway, even after I run 1/2-3/4mi on treadmill to warm up and feel good, I'll get on the bench and lay back....and start yawning. LOL I feel like I want to go to sleep as soon as I lay back. I'm serious. I'll yawn a few times and then start my set. The yawning usually stops right after the first working set. The funny thing is, that on days where I yawn the most, I perform the best. Weird or what?
Does this happen to anyone else?

It happens to me alot. I am a chronic yawner. Actually just writing this caused me to yawn. I once asked my doctor, and she told me that some people just yawn alot. She also told me that although there are many theories, nobody really knows why we yawn.

It means that some how or other as you are running you are doing something to disrupt (probably just a little) your xiphoid process. This might not be a bad thing for you since yawning makes your body pull in extra oxygen.
That of course is just one theory, yawning is one of those things that have an air of mystery about it.

One theory I heard was that if there is insufficient oxygen in the air, you'll yawn as an attempt to "take a deep breath" and get the O2 you need. Who knows. However, at one particular gym that I used to go to, a lot of people would yawn all the time. I don't remember that happening at any other gym I've gone to.
If it affects more than one person then maybe there's something in the air (or NOT in the air). If it's just you then maybe you're tired.

Kinda on the subject ...
I workout very first thing I do ... by 7 AM ... I get up maybe an hour before. I am a morning person anyways and have no problem doing this ... I have not used an alarm in years - even when I was working back in the states and was at work about the same time.
Question: Here in Brasil they make great coffee (and I am not a coffee drinker) and was wondering if there is anything wrong with a shot(literally the size) of coffee in the morning before the workout. Would think not, but thought I would ask.
Back to the original subject matter ...

I think coffee is great a half an hour before a workout. You have to have it black though. I work out at 11:30, so I have already had a couple of cups by the time I work out.

Funny you should ask. I drink coffee all the time. I once read somewhere that if you drink coffee and do your cardio right after , for 30 mins their is some kind of benefit. (didnt make it up but cant remember why it is supposed to help, Think i read it in Mens Health magazine.)
I figured that drinking coffee soon before a workout would somehow speed your heart up and kind of make it more dangerous, even though that's a weird theory. To tell the truth, last winter (i have a decent home gym) i would get up before school (5 or so ) and work out. I sometimes drank coffee because it was freezing but it was hard to workout after my day got started.
For all those who started yawning reading this, im sorry hehehe. AND YBX sorry for getting off topic there.

LOL. Same thing happens to me. I'll be hyped as hell throughout the day thinking about the workout. Then as I'm about to start it, i'll let out long ass yawns and not simple yawns I mean like "YaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwOOOOOOhshiiiit am I tired!" LOL. What the **** is that about?
But yea after you get into it, the yawning stops. It's usually at the beginning.

I've noticed something even stranger than that! I don't know about everyone else, but I only yawn when I am awake! I have never, ever yawned when I was asleep. I know, because I stayed up one night when I was asleep to see, and I never did!
Actually, I yawn all the time in the gym, so I try to hide it so people won't think I am bored while lifting.

Coffee and Yawning
I sometimes start yawning when things get reall intense, i.e., leg day. I've only recently started doing this and I don't like it.
As for the coffee suggestion... This was recently discussed here.
