best value video card out atm ?

i wana upgrade my video card to something new but i dont wana buy a new computer so i cant use the new pci-e type cards. My mother board is still using the AGP but it can support 8x or whatever.

so whats a good mid range agp vid card out atm ? i want to spend around $300 australian on it.

ATI would be the best bet. You might want to check with the power supply requirement though. As for top gaming card for AGP - 7800GS (or maybe it's 7900GS).

Check out the 6600gt is you're goin really budget but for anything newer than hl2, cs:s, they're not really that great.
dual 6800gt's if yo want. Depends on what sorta motherboard you got. Also if you got a real slow CPU, that will be the bottleneck and a new GPU might not improve performance much.

thanks alot for that site, its awesome, my cpu atm is a athlon xp 2500 but ive over clocked it to 3000 so i think that cpu will do for at least another year. i notice slow performance when i turn alot of graphics card operations on, like shadows in games and stuff like that.

ill prob go with the x800gto its only 239

x850xt pe is the best ati card you can get for agp. Just get the x850xt since it can easily be overcolecked to pe speeds and beyond.

np mate. I've still got a socket a system. I've only got a sempron and a 6600gt, and i can run cs:s at everything on high/very high.

Heres my CPU-Z screenshot:

It used to be a 1.75ghz, now its 1.94 ghz.
