He was the highest paid sportsman in the world a few years back - don't know about now.
Actually that figure seems a little low if anything. He used to get millions of dollars in bonuses for winning a race. A single, two-hour race.

he deserves every cent i think, he has made the sport what it is for this generation. Yes we have the legends AKA Senna and Mansell.
But this guy is/was an awesome driver and frontman for the sport...

100% agree with you, he is a good sportsmanship, don't think that racing for 2 hours straight is easy!, it takes ALOT of concentration and driving skills, he is one of my favorites atheletes along with Beckham and M jordan

This is exactly right. Besides, Schummy donated $10 million US to victims of those tsunami's a while back. It's not like he's a bad guy.

I love michael, but I have a hard time believing anyone is worth 80 million a year, in any sport. He has done wonders for F-1 and deserves more then anyone though.
Its funny most people on this board probably dont even know who he is.

another thing i like about him is that he has a private life and doesn't make a fool out of himself, his humbel he gave 10mil to the earthquake in middle east, he dances everytime he gets up in the podium, one of the best guys, definetly props to him..

he is absolutely the michael jordan of formula 1 racing. he's been doing alright this season, but last season god damn son, he won more than 14 grand prix. plus every other season before that. jeeeez. he deserves every cent he gets.

driving an F1 car is one of the most physically demanding things you can do.
drivers lose up to 10lbs in water weight througout a race.
the cars develop up to 4g's of lateral force, imagine going through a chicane at 180mph with 4g's slamming your head side to side while simultaneously adjusting brake balance, throttle resopnse, mixture, susepension settings etc.
I'll try and find an on-car video of these things at speed. when they're developing downforce and going through a corner it looks like the videos in fast foward.

beef was that the one where schumacher and alonso battled it to the end? and schumacher beat him at the end...i think that was this season, Schumacher has 21 points and alonso 36, i hope schumi wins this season so he gets his 8th world championship tittle!

i thought americans didn't care much for F1? Is it huge over there?
you have the other one, not nascar but its like F1, i think its called indycar apologies its mad late here and i'm so tired...

Yeah, your right, americans don't care much about them but i born in Cuba and people love F1 there, i'm also a fan of other sports that americans don't like, ex: Soccer, gotta love those juventuds, I don't know much about formula 1, i only know a couple of guys like alonso, schumi, michael's brother and button...but i respect the guy alot, like you said he is one of the big heroes of our generation.

No, last season he didn't win a real race. He only one the USGP that had like 6 cars because of michelin. You thinking of 2004
