How long before I can lift some real weight?

Well I used to be able to benchpress about 150-170 pounds when I was much younger.

Nowadays, I can only do 50 pounds. I can't believe I let myself go this bad. I've never been much of a weight lifter or anything, but I am eager to lift weights to lose significant weight i've gained. Seems during the years of my weight gain though, my muscles have been destroyed.

What i'm asking is, how long will it take before I can go from about 50 pound becnhpressing to around 150 or heavier, again?

Since you've been there before, without any other information, I'd give a wild guestimate of 6 months to a year.

How is your neuromuscular coordination? What I mean by this is, is the barbell traveling in a smooth path or are you all over the place? This will affect your performance.

Muscle memory helps, Id say 6 months if you follow an ace routine and eat nicely and sleep well.

Unhappy

Wow, that is depressing. I cannot believe I let myself get this bad.

So I don't hurt myself, I try to do it as controlled as possible.
