As the old saying goes..."You get what you pay for", however....
I personally haven't bought furniture from Ikea but I like their concept. That place does some mad business so I'm sure there will be complaints. The next time I'm in need of some new furniture I was going to check them out.

Have some good, durable furniture from IKEA, but I gotta say, that bed frame looks awful fragile.

IKEA sells good cheap furniture, as well as moderately high priced furniture. The higher price stuff is of better quality, for the most part i assume.
So in general, the lower the price, the cheaper the quality.

I've got a bunch of stuff from Ikea, including my bed. Had it all for 6 years now. No complaints, but then again it's just pieces of wood pinned together, so there's not a whole lot to go wrong...

thanks all... reps when recharged. what i was initially thinking was what comfort eagle said. i mean how could it just break when its wood screwed together. also people tell me "u get what u pay for" but alot of furniture is outrageously overpriced. i could by this set 2 times for the price of most bedframes and wardrobes.

$300 for 5 pieces of furniture? If it lasts a year you've gotten your moneys worth. IKEA isn't bad. It's not the top,but it'll do until you get some furniture knowledge.

Exactly... Ikea, West Elm, etc. are good places to find reasonably priced furniture that "will do" until you can afford higher quality, more expensive things. Some people though, get tired of furniture quickly and buy less expensive things so that they don't feel too bad about getting rid of something after a couple of years. It's easier to get rid of a $200 Ikea piece after a couple of years (and not feel guilty) than it is a $3,000 piece from Ethan Allen.
Check out the materials the furniture is made from. Some of Ikea's stuff is particle board and other pieces are solid wood. The particle board stuff is generally not as long-lasting as a solid wood piece. Ikea does a better job than other companies about telling you what their furniture is made of.

I've bought stuff from them before. It is ok. Not bad quality. Alot of stuff you have to put together yourself. It saves on cost.

You're 17. We didn't think you'd be outfitting a great room or home theater.

Well, when it comes to furniture and home decor, what is traditional? Myself, I would like nothing better than to have an old Victorian House (Second Empire, Queen Anne, or Italianate style) filled with 16th and 17th century American Furniture, hardwood floors and trim, ect.
That, or a log cabin filled with rustic style furniture made from logs and unfinished wood, ect.

I would consider people that have all new leather furniture with chrome, glass, and black metal everywhere modern. Or lots of fiberglass or odd-looking furniture in bright colors, ect.
Chrome and glass belongs on my car, or at the nudie bar, not in the living room.

Well, it's tough to guess about a person's style over the internet.
Come to think of it, since I know you love classic movies, I'd picture you as an Art Deco type of guy.
Edit: I watch HGTV WAYYYYYYYY too much.

For the most part, its crap. Their stuff is made of particle board and other shi**y materials. However, its pretty cheap and economical so its good for peeps on a budget.

IKEA is hit or miss. You have to really take a good look at the stuff you are buying. I've bought a BUNCH of stuff there for my last apartment. It's great for tables and "filler" furniture. My ex had a little couch that was well made. I've seen some of the dressers in action and they fell apart prwtty quickly. I would NOT recomend buying a bed there. Shop around the internet, you should eb able to find something as afordable as IKEA but higher quality.

I bought a glass-and-iron kitchen table at IKEA.
It was worth every penny. Only problem is that you have to put it together yourself. Make sure that you (or your friends) know how to put a table together. And make sure that you have the patience. It's tedious.
