How the movie "HOSTEL" was inspired...
I didn't want to off-topic the other Hostel thread so I'm posting here.
I saw the movie a few months back and it was quite disturbing.
Anyhow, I did a bit of research and found out that what inspired this movie was a website that the director (I believe it was the director) found for a site in Thailand. The website stated that for $10,000 (something close to that) you were able to shoot a human to death. No gory stuff like sawing them etc...just a straight bullet. The difference from the movie was that the victims actually were volunteers. In return for being killed, the victims families were compensated financially which made it worthwhile for the victim so it was all mutual agreement.
The director actually made a reservation on the site just to see if this was true but the site shut down shortly after...
Anyhow, this is what inspired the movie Hostel. What makes Hostel such a disturbing movie is that it can and probably has happened to some extent. This world is full of filthy rich sicks with disturbing fantasies...watch out.

There was no website that inspired the movie... Eli Roth or whatever just made it all up...

there are places where volunteers can surrender their bodies to let someone kill them then eat them afterward, there was an article on it in the papers a year or so ago

The guy had his head cut off because he was supporting America, a soldier, etc... in the Iraq war... I mean its war... stuff like that happened im sure in the past wars a lot... It just was as accessable as it is now because of the internet

eh there is something that happened like hostel to a lesser extent. If you search the bbc.com news articles you can come across an article about this german cannibal who posted ads on the internet for a well built young male to be slaughtered and consumed. And someoen actually volunteered for it and was eaten by the german guy. ill give u the link if i can find the article, but dont be a lazy kid and just wait for me to post the link, go to www.bbc.com and try to find it.

Yeah, you are right about **** like this happening in past wars. When Japan invaded Manchuria(China) during WW2, they had decapitating contests. It was reported in a Japanese newspaper that two Japanese officers had a beheading contest: who can samurai sword off more people's heads in a minute, or something along those lines.
China and Japan still have beef over the atrocities that happened in China during WW2. Japan refuses to admit to the accusations.
