Fish Oil - Dosage and Burps!
I'm currently using the following Omega 3 supplement: http://www.healthspan.co.uk/shop/product.aspx?Id=O3TG.
I take x2 capsules x3 a day. I also consume 2 to 3 salmon fillets per week. Would you think this is enough? I know some people consume extraordinary amounts but something is better than nothing right?
I have also noticed that I have started getting acid reflux (burps) after a dosage. Is isn't overly unpleasant and I can live with it. Obviously the stomach is having problems processing the oils all at once. If I continue as it is will my body still correctly absorb and take advantage of the entire dosage of the fish oils? Or is acid reflux a sign to cut back as my body cannot handle the dosage?

That sounds solid bro, The main thing to aim for with fish oil is 1 gram of DHA and EPA.
As the for acid reflex, I would not worry about it.

I had that same problem went I started taking fish oil supplements as well and it was pretty nasty. So I switched to a different fish oil supplement that is enteric coated.
Quote from a medical dictionary
"Relating to an oral preparation of a drug that has been treated so that release is delayed until passage from the stomach into the intestine."
I've not had any type of burping problems since.

yeah, enteric coated fish oil works really well for avoiding the burps cos theyre gross HEH
i get the same thing, its not too much of a problem tho. generally just drink alot of water when you take them, or take them just before your meal. i also find that taking them before i finish the last few mouthfulls of my meal eliminates the burping problem too.

Thanks for your comments so far.
The recommended dosage on the packet is to take only 2 capsules a day. So why should I be taking a higher dosage as encouraged on many other threads?
Surely the company want you to consume more pills so that you buy their product more often? If that's the case then why would they recommend such a low dosage? Is it that a regulatory body determines what dosage companies can put on the packet and they have to go along with their call?

my packaging says:
as an omega 3 supplement - adults take 1 capsule 3 times daily or as prescribed.
for arthritis - adults take up to 4 capsules 3 times daily or as prescribed.
we take extra because we want lots of grams of good fats for many many reasons, not just some omega 3!

Keep your fish oils in the fridge to avoid breakage on the way down. Also, drink plenty of liquid when swallowing them to make sure they get down. The only time I get burps from fish oil is when I use barely any water.
