Ergo AllInOne vs. Universal EAA Stack
Anybody have any opinions on this?
I'm basically going back to the basics.
Substance WPI for pre and post wo, ON 100% for supplentary shakes, Optimum Flax Seed caps, XCeed, Primafoce CEE, a standard One A Day multi, and an amino acid product.
I've narrowed it down to Ergopharm and Universal, but I'm having trouble deciding.
Thanks in advance for help.

I didn't want to steal the thread
I thought I'd let some others with personal experience on Universal comment first

Of those, I would go with ErgoPharm's All-In-One. CoA's, overall more respectable company.

There's a version without carbs?
I don't need BCAA in addition because the BCAAs are already a part of the EAA complex.
Ok Slated, your turn.

Yes there is a Carb free version but if you are not cutting the carbs are must to grow.

Well yeah, but if it's cheaper I can just use Gatorade powder.
Where is it listed? I don't see it under the Ergo product listing.

I have tried both and both are great. It is all personal preference, do you want straight EAA's or the additions in AIO.

I went with All In One, but honestly I didn't want to.
It just seems like there is an emphasis on companies instead of products, if anybody understands that.
But it really does look like a great product. Pricey though.
Thanks for input.

You don't have to worry about Universal's quality. The company has been in business for more than 20 years. They manufacture their own products in New Jersey. They can probably provide COA's but someone from Universal would have to address that.

I have used both products [the carb version of AIO though] and can say that they are both great. AIO tastes better but about 1/3 of the aminos are not EAA so 2 servings of EAA Stack provide the 12g of EAA found in a serving of AIO. Obviously, this is important if price is a concern, but in that case you can go with bulk BCAA/ EAA and flavoring. BCAA's disolve in water after a while and the taste could be masked with flavored drinks.

I trust their quality. I'm just not a big fan of Universal. Aside from maybe 2 or 3 products their line is garbage. They've been in business for a while, great. Patrick Arnold deserves our money far more than some random Universal guy. Think of it as an investment in innovation. Enough said.

Your certainly entitled to your opinion. I would disagree that their line is "garbage".
I don't buy into the whole "innovation" argument. If you all wanted to support innovation then you should be taking EAS Creatine, MetRx MRP's and NoXplode.

I don't say things without having a reason to say them.
Let me exemplify:
Universal Amino Tech
Quote:
Calories: 48
Protein: 12 g
Thiamin: 2.5 mg
Riboflavin: 2.5mg
Niacin: 20 mg
Vitamin B6: 4 mg
Vitamin B12: 12 mcg
Pantothenic Acid: 15 mg
Calcium: 838 mg
Potassium: 9 mg
Carnitine: 50 mg
(as L-Carnitine)
Chromium Picolinate: 50 mcg
IGF Colostrum: 325 mg
(bovine)
Adenosine Triphosphate: 75 mg
Pyridoxine a-ketoglutarate: 5 g
Inosine: 55 mg
(as hypoxanthine)
Trimethylglycine: 75 mg
Phosphatidylcholine: 45 mg
Para-aminobenzoic Acid: 15 mg
Digestive Enzyme Blend: 79 mg
(Papain, Bromelain)
|
Horrible, horrible underdosed formula. Honestly, what the hell is 75mg of TMG going to do? Same with 50mg L-carnintine. Same with 325mg colostrum. This is getting redundant, but, it's hard to believe that such a big company that has been around for so long would release such a lame product. And this is only one example.
Or how about...
Universal M-Stak
Quote:
Vitamin C: 50 mg
(as ascorbic acid)
Vitamin B6: 10 mg
(as pyridoxine HCl)
Calcium: 150 mg
(as calcium phosphate)
Magnesium: 100 mg
(as magnesium oxide)
Zinc: 30 mg
(as zinc picolinate)
Natural Flavone Complex:
5-Methyl-7Methoxyisoflavone: 100 mg
7-Isopropoxyisoflavone: 100 mg
20-Hydroxyecdysone: 100 mg
Growth Hormone (hGH) Secretagogues:
L-Arginine Pyroglutamate: 2.5 g
L-Ornithine Alpha-Ketoglutarate: 1.3 g
Lysine: 1.2 g
(as lysine HCl)
Taurine: 750 mg
(as L-taurine)
Leucine: 100 mg
(as L-leucine)
Isoleucine: 50 mg
(as L-isoleucine)
Valine: 50 mg
(as L-valine)
Luteinizing Hormone (LH) Boosters:
Tribulus Extract: 250 mg
(29% steroidal saponins)
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC): 250 mg
Carnitine: 50 mg
(as L-carnitine)
Anti-Aromatase Inhibitors:
5,7-Dihydroxyflavone: 100 mg
Kudzu Extract: 150 mg
DHT Blockers:
Saw Palmetto Extract: 200 mg
Beta Sitosterol: 250 mg
Pygeum Extract: 50 mg
Insuline Potentiators:
Alpha Lipoic Acid: 10 mg
Chromium Picolinate: 100 mcg
Metabolic Energy Complex:
Guarana Extract: 500 mg
(22% caffeine)
Bitter Orange Extract: 400 mg
(4% synephrine)
Cordyceps Extract: 100 mg
(7% cordyceptic acid)
Liver Detoxifying Complex:
Lysophosphatidylcholine: 50 mg
(from lecithin)
Milk Thistle [seed]: 75 mg
|
Yet again, a bunch of random **** just to make the ingredient profile seem more meaningful or something. Wow, 75mg milk thistle (even though the product wouldn't do anything harmful to the liver, and even then 75mg isn't enough to do anything, and even then milk thistle isn't even effective as thought to detoxify the liver...). Wow, a total of 200mg BCAAs; I'm impressed.
Moving right along...
Universal BCAA 2000
Quote:
Vitamin C: 10mg
Riboflavin: 1.7mg
Vitamin B6: 26mg
Valine: 934mg
(as l-valine)
Leucine 934mg
(as l-leucine)
Isoleucine 135mg
(as l-isoleucine)
|
If you're going to do a BCAA product, at least do it right, dammit. For this product to be remotely effective you'd have to take the whole bottle yeilding around ~14g BCAA. That's just sad. Yes, I know they've released products more recently that are decent BCAA/EAA formulas, but again, with the respect issue. I'd go with Xtend or ICE anyday. Or in this case, All-In-One.
More to come.

I've been using All in One since the fall (switching over to the no carb version now as I am dieting for a show), and I LOVE it. I use it during my workout to sip on. The combination of vitargo and aminos have really helped with stamina and also recovery.

Never tried Universal's product, so I can't comment on it. I have a tub of Ergopharm's All-in-One. Good ingredient list overall, but strange taste... not the most appealing taste I've had (to each his own though). I will consider buying All-in-One in the future, although it isn't a certain thing.
I think Universal's product contains ~210g of aminos per tub, Ergopharm's contains ~318g per tub. Dividing each by their respective prices I get $0.095/gram for Universal, while I get $0.094/gram for Ergopharm. Of course, that doesn't reflect that there are other ingredients in the products.

I tried the fruit punch universal EAA stack. It was good, I guess it worked (be honest, any effect it has on you is way too small to finger)... but the flavor did get boring after a while.

I'm using Ergopharm's All-In-One Carb Free right now and I really like it. For you "old school guys" it really has an Ultimate Orange taste too it. And that's a good thing.
Ergopharm is currently re-vamping the All-In-One Carb Version right now so look for the re-release soon. But if your like me, you prefer the carb free version anyway and use Oats post-workout.
