Obssessivness of weighing yourself
Why are people so obssessed on getting on a scale and weighing themselves. I started my high protein low carb diet in dec. Thats the last time I weighed myself. Over the years I found out that scales are liars. In dec. I started out at a 52 inch waist. Now I'm down to a 44. I used to hate to look at myself in the mirror but now I found out that the mirror is mybest friend. It never lies to me. I go to the gym and lift before work and then do my cardio after. No cheat days totally commited. I know I'm not the only one who follows this regimen because I've read of other fellow members on BB who have had success with this. Keep looking in the mirror for muscles gained and fat loss. Don't rely on the scale. For my fellow BB members who without your knowledge and inspiration, THANK YOU.

i like to look at the scale for goal purposes. a mirror if my primary measurement tool for body transformation, but i weight myself biweekly just to see where i am to get to my goal. obviously my overall goal is to look good and lose fat and i can see that in a mirror, but its hard to set goals and marks with a mirror you know what im saying, i want to be under 235 pounds by may 1st, im at 248 right now

I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I read that.
Edit: I do agree with the thread starter that using the mirror is one of your best tools in the BBing game.

The scale is a good motivator and indicator for us big guys... if the number goes down. I only weigh once a week, every monday to see where I am at and make sure things are stilll moving in the right direction. Of course I'm just going into the 3rd week, thats what I plan to keep doing.
I took beginning measurements and I will probably measure again at the 1 month mark. I have trouble believing any difference I think I see in the mirror. I'm only down a little bit, but I think I see a difference in my face and chest/stomache already. So the mirror isn't a good tool for me yet.

Also motivating are the compliments from my fellow gym members and co-workers. I also do not reply to sarcasim or jealousy. More motivation because they are narrow minded.

The scale to me is somewhat objective. Some days I look at myself in the mirror and think I look great. I could look at myself the next day and think I look like ****. But the scale doesn't lie.

I weight myself every morning before I eat breakfast and before I do my cardio. Basically, it's a great way for me to know where I am and where I need to go to hit my goals.

I like the scale too because I know I'm overweight and that I need to lose weight to be healthy. Since I don't have access to the water method of measuring body fat I use calculation methods I have found online that use your height, weight and measurements to estimate your body fat - which is nice to see a change in. It also helps me to figure out what works and what doesn't work in my eating. If I'm up a couple of pounds I look at what I've done differently lately that might have caused it.
