Humanity's fate

Humanity, we have our good, not so good, and downright horrific moments. We are a race of extremely diverse people in religion, ethnicity, creeds and beliefs. These diversity at times brought us together and make us realize that despite our outer appearence, we all desire the same dreams inside, to live in peace. However, often times we kill each other because of just that, outer appearence. We kill because it is much easier to silence the unknown, to silence everything that is foreign. We have killed simply because we could not have taken that extra second to understand, to acknowledge the humanity in them.

We are a people with minds that can create amazing, wonderful and breathtaking works of art and yet we can also create weapons that defies that conventional understanding of fear. We have technology to conquer space and taken a picture of our little blue marble, and yet, we also have the technology to wipe us out of existence in the next 30 minute.

We have came along from our humble roots of hunter gatherers, to today's modern and high tech society. But during the process, we have a lost a part of us. The innocent part, the part that helps a lost tourist or just to say hi to a complete stranger. We have lost that.

Watching the footages of nuclear detonation, various clips of war and horrendous suffering made me realize something. Do we really have a right to exist? Do we, as humanity, have earned our chance for continuous survival? Does the good in our hearts out weights the hideous evils that we have unleashed upon each other?

Do we deserve to live?

In this brave new world, money is religion, wealth is salvation, technology is nature and ignorance is happiness.

What is the fate of us? I don't know. I just hope the grass is greener on the other side.

This was explored very well in the latest Battlestar Galactica.

Do we have the right to survive? Do we deserve to survive? Unfortunately or fortunately rather, we are the top of the food chain and there is nothing at the moment which will make that judgement for us.

We are clearly acting like a virus on this planet and for our beautiful acts, we destroy even more.

I guess we will continue to exist, to exploit until nature desides to strike back.

We're a plague, a parasite, and we'll eventually destroy ourselves. We're capable of doing the most despicable, depraved things, yet we're also capable of finding beauty in the world around us, and of empathy for our fellow humans.

Jorth is already getting pissed at us...kind of like a dog that can't scratch at a flea infestation.

We're f*cking ourselves over, and we're our own worst enemy. Hel, I know how it'll end, but who's to say I'm right? I know what I believe and it's true to me, and all those who believe what I do but I could still be wrong.

I'm half inclined to just shrug and say "who f*cking cares anymore...?"

Huaminty is a work in progress, for all our 50,000 years on this planet we've still got a lot of maturing to do (cough * cartoons * cough * 11 dead * cough * f***ing morons * cough) . It's true that this planet did not know what hell was before we got here, but heaven is not out of our grasp either; to condemn us to being a plague is to basically to say we have no hope. What happened to never give up? If you really feel that way you though can just kill yourself, since who f***ing cares anymore right?

If there were a population of locusts that stripped out their feeding grounds yet continued to eat what little was left to the point of damaging the ground perhaps permanently, carry on producing offspring at an unprecedented rate, destroying species they share that area with for little or no reason other than for their own personal pleasure, left piles of **** and garbage everywhere that has no hope of being processed down into the soil, poisoned wells, the air and groundwater supplies with their filth, you'd call it a plague, a parasitical species.

That's the cold hard logic side of it, looking at the facts. What I actually think about it is something else entirely - there IS something that can be done about it, before it's too late. I'm actually a very optimistic person, but like to look at things from BOTH sides.

Remember Pandora's Box? Hope springs eternal...as long as there's hope, we have a chance.

Yes, eventually everything dies. But I do believe that humanity will redeem itself of its past sins. it sounds very optimistic considering we will always hate each other years from now even though the issues of ethnicity, religion, creed and sexual orientation will be long gone.

I hope we'll turn out alright.

thats true , on a long enough timeline everyone's survival rate will drop to 0. we just have to accept it and flow with the current.
