my legs... help!

Everytime I have my leg workout on Tuesdays, the next day I can feel it a little but I'm not that bad... But when it becomes Thursday, my legs are so ridiculously sore. I tried to avoid this by stretching really well before and after my workout. I also stretched about 4 times during the day on Wednesday to try to prevent me from being so sore.

I normally wouldn't complain about the pain because well... it's kind of cool. The only problem is that I'm in school. Walking up the stairs hurts, but walking down the stairs hurts so ridiculously bad. I have to hold the rail or I would fall over. I also can't walk very fast, so I was late to two of my four classes today.

Here is my leg workout and please tell me if I'm doing too much or something. I'm performing all of these correctly because I had my workout buddy watch me do them so I know that's not the case.

Squats - 3x8
Leg Curl - 3x10
Standing Calf Raises - 3x10
Rotary Calf Machine - 3x10
Leg Press - 3x8
Hip Abductor - 3x10
Hip Adductor - 3x10

Is this too much? Is there another way I can prevent the pain? I've been going through this problem for about 5 weeks.

Thats not the best leg workout and i would definately get rid of the
Hip Abductor - 3x10
Hip Adductor - 3x10

I would get rid of those two excersises and maybe leave it like that or replace the leg press with dead lifts and possibley add lunges.

Because with heavy compound lifts it should hit the muscles that those 2 machines hit more than enough.

brian44 is on a distinguished road. (+10)
maybe you might want to try 5x5 instead of 3x8 just because to me it seems like endurance reps like 8-12 seem to wear me down more

yeh when your gettin back into leg workouts take it easy, do easy 10 rep sets with a light weight, then slowly incress. yeah i know how it is about the leg thing, i got back into footy training this monday, im just gettin over the soreness and its friday, body (legs) got to get use to it again..

EDIT: yeh and your doing to many exercises for your legs.. do 3 - 4 exercises at a easy weight to you get use to it.. then increase the weight and lower the reps..

hopefully this helps you
