IKEA for getting started on your own?
I'm gonna be moving out on my own soon. I was at IKEA the other day looking around and **** that place must be the absolute best for getting all the stuff you need when you first get your own little place. You can get sets of plates and bowls for like 20 bucks, utensils 10, glasses 10 bucks. Furniture obviously, but all the little things you need around the kitchen in your bathroom etc. etc. etc. lol it's gay but I think it would be a lot of fun picking out all the **** I need for when I first move out of my house. But I keep thinking of Edward Norton in Fight Club because of this lol.

IKEA is good. You can get a designer look to your place with a small budget/

You guys for real? I don't know ... when I went to IKEA, I was unimpressed. Most of there furniture looked cheap and pretty gay to me. I ended up buying all of my furniture from The Room Store. As for glassware and plates and **** .. I bet you can get cheaper **** from Wal-Mart that would look just as stylish. I wouldn't really know though .. I use nothing but paper plates and plastic silverware . But I did buy this one nice looking blue glass bowl I use to eat my oatmeal with ... got it from Wal-Mart for like $1.

hate to bump old threads... but my thread on IKEA got closed for no reason a couple of days ago.
i just bought my bedroom furniture from ikea and the quality is very good (at least for right now). i put the bed and bedside tables i got together last night and both are very sturdy. the directions are hard to understand at first... but once u get the hang of it it is really easy... the furniture is really neat how it is put together and such. one thing to note is most of their furniture is low to the ground for some wierd reason... but it doesnt bother me.

Yep in Australia IKEA is best for bang for buck value, especially as alot of it is more modern/designer looking. We have a lot of Fantastic Furnitures that offer 15 piece living packages for 500$ and **** but it looks cheap as hell.

The whole idea behind Ikea is the fact that they make disposable furniture, that anyone can buy as cheap as humanly possible. They make it look modern with a youthful style, so a lot of young people are attracted to the store. At the same time a lot of old farts, are trying hard to get back their youths, you know the mid life crisis types, so they buy modern **** and make their house all fancy and modern.
Quality: Sure they look great, and if you're never touching, handling, or using it (like a bookcase for example) its fine. If you got to use it, it will break. The quality is ****, bottom line. You get exactly what you pay for.
Most of my things in my place are ikea, from the bedroom furniture, to the sofa, TV stand, kitchen ****, you name it, I probably got it from ikea. At the time I bought it because it was cheap, but I knew that in the back of my mind, this **** is disposable, and knew that somewhere down the road I'd get better **** when I earned more money. When you purchase with that intention, then Ikea is fine for what it is. Nothing more.
