is college just a POPULARITY CONTEST?

I took a year off right after freshman year at college to travel abit and to work. It really gave me perspective on life and grow up a bit. I'm more of a serious dude now. But I'm having alot of trouble making friends/getting girls.

I'm doing research at my schools bio lab and with the help of a professor, will have my first article published in a few months. I work out hard and am pretty built. I am also very nice and friendly to everyone. Never got into **** with anyone. But I cant just seem to break into any "inner circles" because i dont got alot of spare time to just shoot the **** and I'm not "funny". By funny, I mean act stupid.

This guy Jacky a floor below me looks like a total jackass, I definately look better than him. But everyones friends with him because of his making farting noises type of humor. I dont think he gets any real pussy but at least he is the AFC Best Friend type to all these hot girls. They all call his name when they see him. Thats better than I can do.

While Im not AFC, Im practically nonexistant because I spend my day sleeping, at the lab, or at the gym. Do Jackass Jacky personalites pwn mature buff dude personalites like mine in terms of getting girls?

my university seems to be a popularity contest and i only attend night classes (which you would think would have a different atmosphere than day classes).

you have to actually get off your ass and talk to girls in order to get them, like 90% of the rest of us.

dosnt bother me. I want to learn what jackass jacky is doing right and what im doing wrong. i personally dont find him funny or interesting but girls dig his ****.

The good thing about college is, u become friends with people u never woulda talked to in highschool...After a couple weeks my freshman year, i became friends with people from all different walks of life, and in the end, no one really gives two shi ts about what u look like, or where your from....Unlike highschool, all the parties i went to, which was every other day it seemed, no one was about getting in fights and all that.....Every highschool party i went to it was like people would just spend the whole time sizing each other up, instead of passing the blunt and holding the beer bong up for the guy next to you.....If you dont have tons of friends in college, something is just wrong with u

My thoughts exactly. Beer is a wonderful thing when it comes to being outgoing and meeting tons of new people. People get along a lot better than high school, and differences are usually seen as interesting rather than something to fight about. If you aren't having a good time, you need to relax a little and have some fun, then people will like you. The reason that kid attracts people has nothing to do with his looks or the farting noses, he's probably just laid back and fun to be around in general.

Firstly, don't automatically assume that this guy's "popularity" means he's "getting pussy". There is, obviously, a correlation between popularity and pussy, but it depends largely on the source of the popularity.

If some guy's popular just because he makes people laugh and acts like a clown all the time, that by itself is really enough to get him pussy; at least not high quality pussy. He'd need other qualities in addition.

(Important note: if he does have the "other qualities", and he's a "funny guy", don't make the mistake of assuming that he is getting his pussy because he is funny.)

Secondly, while what you are doing is going to serve you well later in life, it's kinda umm boring. People want to be excited, they want to be lifted out of the dreary reality of their everyday lives. "Labs" and "biology", unfortunately, are associated with "boredom" in most people's minds (probably 'cos they sucked at it in highschool). If you want to be popular (among the "average" college crowd), you need to relate to them on [i]their[/] terms. If that seems to "debasing" to you, bad luck.

Screw popularity, its overrated man.

Just cause the dudes got friends, doesnt mean hes a good guy. He could be one of those guys that really has problems, but just covers it up on the outside by acting cocky and being funny.

The way you make him out to be, I dont think hes a regular prince charming.
Because all the REAL GOOD men and women are the ones that are Hardest to find, and you'll learn that as you get older.

If you think life is a popularity contest, then you need to grow up.

He probably only bangs the sluts anyways, because there are tons of sluts at all the colleges I went to. And thats what popularity is usually about in the big IN crowds.

I've been to three different colleges(2 communitys and 1 Univ)

Dont worry about him, if you wanna meet DECENT girls, just suck it up and get some confidence and talk to some girls. 90% of girls are scared to approach guys, so by YOU approaching them tells them you are confident.

Usually the females worth hanging out with are the ones that arent in the popular group....i mean c'mon, theres PLENTY of great looking girls in college that arent part of the IN crowd too man, its not just guys.
If you just want sex, go for an IN crowd.
If you want to actually meet girls and make permanent friends, then dont try to be super popular.
