Got a sick deal on some sweet speakers from some guys in the parking lot at IKEA
I was at IKEA buying a coffee table and in the parking lot these two guys rolled up in a van and asked me if I was interested in buying some speakers. I thought it sounds fishy but I'll give it a look. So he comes over by my car and he's got a bunch of pairs of speakers in the back of his van, he says he got some extras from the warehouse and these things retails for like 2 grand. These are massive speakers I'm telling you, I'm gonna need a powerful amp to get these babies working at peak performance, but they are sick. So he offers me a pair for 859 bucks. I figure what a deal, but I was still kinda worried about being scammed but I looked in the boxes looked at the manual and everythign, it was all there and all still sealed. So I got them home and it turns out these guys weren't lying, these speakers have a MSRP of 2299 Canadian, and he sold them to me for 425 bucks a piece brand new?? How could these guys give me a such a sick deal, these babies are sweet.

Hmm..probably because they stole them, or they "fell off of a truck" and even one dollar is a 100% profit.

ive had at least a dozen of these guys come up to me in parking lots saying same ****, have a ship order and everything and say they ordered some and they sent them extra and will sell for cheap. i told guy all i had was 40 bux and he told me hed give me a pair for 40. and i turned him down. they are either absolute crap or they are stolen. and by the way this is in florida too. except every time its 2 guys in an expensive SUV of some sort and they are usually stoned or drunk off ass.

What are you an idiot? You haven't realized yet that they stole them? Some guys rolled up to me and my friend in a van trying to sell us stuff and we immediately knew it was stolen stuff. Not sure what you were thinking.
Sorry if I sounded harsh. I just thought it was funny that you thought you were getting some great deal from these really nice guys.

people have no idea how much stuff "fell off a truck" aka stolen. Some acquaintances of mine get half of the stuff they own this way. Anything small enough to be stolen (not TVs, etc) they take. Often they sell this stuff for money so they can buy stuff like TVs. Bunch of scam artists in other ways too. Not very respectable.
I've had similar experiences to the threadstarter but just didn't take advantage. The last time it was pounds of frozen filet mignon for dirt cheap.

I took them over to a buddies place he's big into music and stuff his basement is basically a studio he DJ's and **** and he has some really expensive amps and so we hooked them up and man can they boom. They're sick speakers and they do work, not a scam.
But yeah I guess it is possible that they stole them. But I didn't know that could I still be considered liable even though I'm not aware of the origins?
They told me they got them from the warehouse as extras and even showed me an invoice saying that they got it from some place.

Have you actaully tried them out yet? Around here a few people have bought **** like that and when they take it home and try em out they don't work. Factory fu*kup
What you got to do next time is be like "how about you give me some free speakers or ill call the cops of you". Make sure your with a friend so if the guy starts **** and is kicking your ass he can jump in and help.

this is big in my area, sometime you do get scammed, sometimes its surplus and the workers dont care, sometimes its straight hot, but personally as long as it isnt stolen from someones home, hey their loss is your gain.... as long as it isnt anythng very important you know

I actually was talking to my buddy I'm at his house right now and apparantly these speakers even have built in amplifiers?
The brand is called Adam and the speakers model is the P33e.
I got 2 of those, they're in perfect condition, they were wrapped up, instructions and everything in there.
They're double speakers with a sub on each.
These things are huuuuge I coudl barely fit them into my car. Man can these things boom it's insane, like rediculous actually it's like having a club in my buddies basement.

i just checked out the speakers you got on google..
they are smaller than i expected (but then, the speakers i use are full size concert speakers, so i see things bigggggg) but they do look like they are quality. that square tweeter in the middle is a ribbon style speaker, which, for the uninformed, produces the highest quality (and most expensive!) sound available.
im not sure i like the idea that they are using one sub crossed over at sub bass frequencies, and one cut off at mid range frequencies though- if youre gonna have a dedicated woofer, keep it at bass levels of sound, because it will lose sound quality on higher notes. i think they should have gone with a woofer, a large midrange, and the ribbon tweeter personally, but whatever, if it sounds good it sounds good

Well I mainly think I'll probably be using them for parties mainly, I've got a buddy who has a cottage up north way out in the middle of nowhere and in the summer we like to bring a bunch of people from here in the city up and we get like 40 people at his place and have massive barbeque, mad partying. And if I set these things up on the deck that would be some maddd sound.
Glad to hear they're high quality though, I know very little about audio type stuff.

This happened to me today
I stopped to get gas and some strung out wacko wants me to buy his "left over" merchandise. Too bad for him a cop happened to pull up as he was bull****ting me. Needless to say the van didnt stick around, and the cop followed in pursuit with lights flashing. That may give you some insight to the legitimacy of this business!
Anyway, seems odd that this thread starter is going to all this trouble to convince us of his bargain deal.

it means they are used to reproduce as high a quality sound as possible in recording studios and as personal sound monitors, so you can really hear every little detail of what you are recording/ playing/ singing

well they're in perfect working order, and they were sealed in the box and the speakers plastic and with styrofoam around them, and the instruction guides are crisp and new looking.
So I don't think I got scammed unless these guys are big time pros. But they looked kinda like losers, this one guy was some skinny little chinese guy smoking and wearing a Quebec Nordiques toque and the other guy kept trying to be funny like I said at first "I dunno man I don't really need any speakers right now" and he goes "Nobody needs speakers, man this ain't the great depression." Kinda lame I thought lol.
