Contest color...for figure???

OK, so I have a few friends who are getting into figure shows...I am wondering what you guys think about contest color for the figure girls? You still like the protan base and dream tan? Just protan? Thoughts? I know the judges are looking for different things so the tan may not need to be as dark...

a lot of figure girls i know use pro-tan. as far as dream tan, i've heard more bad than good. i know some judges frown on using dream tan because it makes such a mess and the color is not real flattering on stage. i've never personally used it.

i'm happy with pro tan. make sure you exfoliate real well though.

check with the particular show your friends are doing and see if there is not someone already working with the show who does the competition tan. check your entry forms as it would be listed on there. essentially you would contact that person who does competition tan, they would mail you some tan products to use before the show then at the show, they would give you final spray and chk your color. i think that is a great way to go.

yeah...I knew protan would be a big part fo the equation. I used Protan on the last figure girl I helped out...and we are using it again. As a bodybuilder, I layer the hell out of Protan when I compete. That said, I guess the real question is how dark is dark enough for the figure competitors? Bodybuilders can not be too dark in my experience, but it may be a different story for the figure girls.

i'd have to say that most of the figure girls i have seen are just as dark as i am (bb'r). but i've also seen a couple of figure girls who were just way too dark. could have been their suit color also as it clashed really bad with their skin color. its just so hard sometime to figure it out because of different types of lighting etc. that can turn great color into crap or vice/versa.
