Frankenstein Final Project
All-American Rejects
"Dirty Little Secret"
This songs is about keeping things a secret. The main chorus is "I'll keep you my dirty little secret, who has to know?" and relates to the novel Frankenstein. Victor tries to keep his creation a secret and doesn't want anyone to know about it. Although the song is about keeping girls a secret, it can pertain to Frankenstein the novel. This song best portrays Victor's thoughts on the monster and how he feels about his creation.

"Unforgiven ll"
The meaning to this song is very broad and could be interpreted many ways. However, there is one part of the song that can relate to the novel "Frankestein." Towards the middle it says:
The black of day, dark of night, we share this paralyze
The door cracks open, but there's no sun shining through
Black heart scarring darker still, but there's no sun shining through
No, there's no sun shining through
No, there's no sun shining...
This reminds me of how Victor felt after he created the monster. He wanted nothing to do with it and was startled by his creation. When I think of darkness, I think evil and emptiness. There was no sun shining through for Victor, he was upset and depressed. He eventually just left and tried to forget about the monster.

"Crawling In the Dark"
This song is about a person who wants to see what his life is for and will he ever find the answer to life. He asks "Will I ever get to see the ending to my story?" This is very similar to Victors thoughts on his own life. After the creation he tries to forget what he has done and thinks of himself differently that before the creation.
And I wish I could know if the directions that I take
And all the choices that I make won't end up all for nothing
This line was how victor felt before his creation but then soon realizes his choices he made where bad ones.

"Missing My Baby Tonight"
This song reminds me of how Elizabeth feels when Victor goes away to build his creation. The singer of the song expresses his emptiness. His loved one is not there and hes sad. He explains how shes the one for him but can't understand why she is missing for so long. Elizabeth's thoughts are best expressed thorough this song.
Led Zeplin
"The Battle of Evermore"
This song wasn't as popular as many of Led Zeplins other songs and its meaning remained masked for years. Many allude it to JR Tolkens "Lord of the Rings." There are many interpretations but I see it as a simple struggle between classes of man. There is a "tyrant" talked aobut in the song and how god vs. evil looms in the air. This is similar to the novel Frankenstein. Listening closely to the lyrics I pictured the monster as the evil and Victor is the angry tyrant. As simple as the lyrics are, the meaning goes deep and isn't clear.
Linkin Park
"Somewhere I Belong"
This song revolves around the theme of acceptance and the need for it. The main chorus is:
I wanna heal, I wanna feel what I thought was never real
I wanna let go of the pain I’ve held so long
(Erase all the pain till it’s gone)
I wanna heal, I wanna feel like I’m close to something real
I wanna find something I’ve wanted all along
Somewhere I belong
I felt this best suites how the monster feels throughtout the novel. Once he read and learned of man he felt hollow and alone and just wanted to be liked by them. The song refers to the need to feel "real," which is what the monster felt.
Black Sabbath
"Iron Man"
I feel this song is best suited for the novel Frankenstein. It describes the monster perfectly and how the people felt of him.
Has he lost his mind?, Can he see or is he blind
Can he walk at all? Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he live or dead? I see thoughts within his head.
These are the thought running through the poeples minds who are looking at him for the first time. He was a creation made from various body parts and looked ugly and was feared.
Avenged Sevenfold
"Unholy Confessions"
This song is generally about a man that gets his heart broken fomr the one he loved. This song reminded me of how Elizabeth felt when she heard of Victor's creation.
"...I know the way to go, no one's guiding me.
When time soaked with blood turns its back,
I know it's hard to fall.
Confided in me was your heart
I know it's hurting you, but it's killing me."
Elizabeth knew Victor was sad without her, but she is hurting more without him.
Metallica
"Some Kind of Monster"
This song generally speaks about the monster that lives in all of us. Its main theme revolves around how many horrors in the real world are created by the people. This ties in with the novel Frankenstein and the creator of the monster, Victor. With his own hands he crafted his own monster that caused terror and brought tragedy to his family. Although this song is very simple, its meaning goes deep and is easy linked to the novel.
Motion City Soundtrack
"Everything is Alright"
The singer in this song is talking to the one he loves. He repetatively asks her if she is Alrifght. This song can be alluded to the novel Frankenstein. This is hoe Elizabeth feels towards Victor. Hes been gone for so long and when she visits him hes like a mad scientist. He completely forgets her and is only concerned with his work.
