Grapplers/wrestlers please help (cauliflower ear)
Ive been doing wrestling and Jiu jitsu for about a year. I broke my cartilage for the first time last week during sparring. He had a tight choke on me and i bearly got out. My eat swelled a bit and there was a bit of blood inside. Right now the ear is a bit thicker and softer then the other. I think i should go to the doctor and check this out because i dont want a cauliflower ear. Most of the guys at my gym are proud of thiers and so they didnt get it drained or anything.
Did anyone ever have this done? Does it hurt? What exactly does the doctor do?

Give you a couple shots.
First he's probably gonna give you antibiotic, then depending on if he's cool or not, lidocaine that sh-t and drain it.

there have been coaches who would cut your ear and drain it, then wrap it back up and make you go finish....

I have already had it before... If you leave it alone and put ice on it and dont pick at it then it will eventually come down. But your going to have to wear head gear to protect it from getting hit again.... It gets hit again and your pretty much screwed...
I wrestled in High school and we always had to use head gear, but when i wrestled free style and greco roman I never wore head gear... It was soo much better wrestling the guy... It felt a lot more freeer and i could like hear things a lot better

yeah like its very small. Visually the ear looks fine. Its just if you touch it you can feel some bumps at the top of it. Probably 1/10 of a teaspoon of blood up there. Its just that i dont want it getting bigger. Ill go to the doctor wensday and see what he says.

Is that what it is called???
There was an Ultimate Fighter champion at the Olympia expo this weekend greeting fans etc....both of his ears were VERY swollen and puffy/inside out looking - I was like, can the man hear?
They were both completely closed up and puffed inside out appearing??
Does it hurt??
