running/jogging questions
what is a decent time to go a mile in?
at what point would it be considered jogging? and running?
which is better: running a mile or jogging 2 miles?

Depends on what you mean by decent.
< 8 minutes = you're in good shape
< 7 minutes = you're in pretty damn good shape
< 6 minutes = you're in great shape
< 5 minutes = you're either a great athlete, or you're on the cross country team.

Running and Jogging are basically the same, really it has to do with your heart rate and speed, for some a jog is a run to others.
I can't "jog" I either walk or run, I have no corodination between 3-5mph,
as for mile times it depends on how far you are running, a 6 minute mile is good, if you are running a mile, a 9 minute mile is good if you are running 7 miles.

As a former CC runner, I'm going to disagree. It's just a different 'hard'. All sports are hard, but in different ways.

I ran CC, as a warm up to the hardest sport ever. Wrestling... then I ran Track ( 3000m 1500m Steeple chase) as a cool down after the season was over.
CC is hard on your mind, you are out there for 10-20 minutes fighting with your self to keep up the pace. after you've done it for a year or 2 your mental toughness will have developped and it becomes just a sport, just like the other games you play in Gym class

It depends on your goal--10 minutes?
I define it as an abbreviated pace or relaxed form of running.
There was a time when a sub 4 minute mile was considered unattainable--then somebody broke it. Anything around 4 minutes, is considered world class
As for your third question--better? in what way

Many People hate running because they can't stand to be with there own thoughts, and that is all you are stuck with. I suggest finding a friend to run with while you first start out, if you want to run for fitness, you need 15 minutes or longer., I forget the reason, but it was drilled into me in early highschool by a gym teacher.
anyway don't worry about distance or speed until you love running.
focus on time, run in one direction for 10 minutes, when the 10 minutes is up, turn around and run home, try and push it a little harder on the way home, as your fitness increases you'll go farther in those 10 minutes, and you'll want to go longer then 10 minutes. you first need to get over the mental barrier, friends to talk to at first, music, these are good ways, later music should be used to keep pace, I personally don't like running with music because when I run its my time, and in my time, I want to think clearly.
