No, you don't. Not all, anyway. And in this case that was probably a good thing. But hulled grains (like corn) only appear to come out whole, while they are almost entirely digested. Not really so with nuts.
Looks like you ate a pile and the alcohol was not helping matters with regards to your digestion. You should probably watch your drinking. The older you get, the more that sort of thing tends to undermine your efforts with regards to diet and exercise.
