What if Arnold hadn't taken heart surgery

If Arnold hadn't taken the heart surgery in August 1997, Would he be in better shape than he is now???

Arnold said back in 1997 that the hardest decision he ever made was having a heart surgery when he really didn't feel sick. If that was the case why did he chose to have one?. Infact a congenital heart valve problem is not going to cause immediate death or something...remember Arnold's mother had the same problem but only died in her late 70's.

Arnold did shrunk a bit after his heart surgery. It is said his arms which were around 20" during 'Eraser' had shrunk to 18" after the surgery...although he did train hard to look big in 'End of Days'

But his career definitely suffered due to his heart surgery. It effectively disrupted the momentum of his movie career. He was supposed to make 'Iam a Legend' with Ridley Scott in 1998 which could have been a potential all time hit. The surgery ruined it all; he wasted two solid years and made bad movie choices like EOD, the 6th day and Collateral Damage.

Following are the pictures of him with his shirt off during vacation in 1996 and 2005...it's hard to find any differences between his shape in 1996 and 2005.

Bro, his mom didn't use gear for years and that surely didn't help his heart much.

Besides, it not like money was a problem for him so why not be safe? He has 4 or 5 children and wants to be around for them. Its not all about arnold anymore.

He made T3 after the surgery....good or bad it made a lot of cash and he got 30mil from it alone.....not too shabby. Don't think any actor has made that much for one single film in history.

And his guns aren't and never were 20". They hyped up back then like wrestlers do now. Biggest ever confirmed were 19" back when he was in his prime....very large by 70's standards.

I have seen that before, specifically when he went to Nautilus Sports Medical industries and Arthur Jones measured everyones arms. But I'm sure that was an "off season" thing, as Arnold wouldn't have been "screwing around" in Deland doing HIT type workouts before a show.

But my arms are a little over 19, and there is NO WAY they are as big as Arnolds at his peak.

Maybe his were 19 off season, or "ripped", but they were over 19 in his best form.

i believe that his arms were 19 inches cold, contest shape, unpumped

the thing is that most pics of arnold you will see he has a pump going on, which will add a couple inches so i'd say between 20 - 21 inches in most pics

also 3 quarters of that is the craziest bicep peak going, with an average tricep, which also makes it appear larger

My arms are over 19" pumped and they dont look anywhere as big as Arnolds arms do when he was in his prime so I say you're full ****.
Arnolds arm were at least 21-22" easy and they looked it when he was in his prime. The www.bodybuildingdungeon.com compare of Arnold and Ronnie show this also.

folks, I think all of you are mistaken that think arnold was small compared to todays pros..

todays pros have bigger thighs, glutes, calfs, delts and guts..but speaking of chest, back and arm-development he was not that far off, plus he had the most amazing chest and the best biceps ever in the history of bodybuilding! if you don't believe me, look at the pics on www.bodybuildingdungeon.com in the bodybuilders A-Z section (you have to register though, I don't want to steal their pics)! look at arnie in 1975 and you'll see him standing next to a black guy and his arm is bigger than the guys head! I have 16.5 inch arms pumped up and flexed..no way arnie only had 19''..it was at least like 21 or so..

I think the problem is that too many people, especially on these boards expect Arnold to look like he did 30 years ago. That's just insane.

The man had a great physique, yes, but give the guy a break. He's old and probably worn out. This man worked his ass off all his life training, achieving one of the best physiques in the world.

Alot of people measure their arms incorrectly,and think that they are bigger than they are.If Arnold was measuring correctly it is quite possible that his arms were"only" 20"or so.You have to take height,and body structure into consideration too.Someone may have arms that are 20",but they may not have the same quality,or amount of muscle that Arnold had,and alot of times,there is a more fat there than they think.
My training partner is 5'8 and has freaky looking arms.They look huge.Im 6'3,and my arms are 1" bigger around than his,yet by looking at us everyone would assume that his are larger.The same with Lee Preist.For his height he has huge arms,and people assume they are 26"or something crazy like that.If all you are worrying about is numbers,then alot of people could get arms the size of Preists or any other bodybuilder,BUT if you really want to be a competitive bb,then you need to worry about quality more than size.

ahh, but lee priest is 5'4" and has had up to 22" arms (20" contest time) you're talking about illusion...now let's take arnold, who boasted 22" arms...he was 6'2", almost a foot taller than lee. and his arms still looked massive. and judging by this pic...i doubt they were 19"

Yeah but dude, there's only one guy who said Arnie's arms are 19" and a thousand who said they were way over 20". Yet a lot of people nowadays (including yourself) choose to believe the ONE guy.

This is quite possibly the STUPIDEST post I have ever read here. Arnold has grown old like anyone else. Is he supposed to put his health in jeopardy for the sake of the muscles of his youth?
