They run a little smaller than the average polo. They shrink quite a bit if you put them in the dryer.

I would say the shirt it self is kind of large around the waist area. It can cause that balloon effect on some. The sleeves though seem to be really tight. I think they look good on people who workout. I have a couple myself.

it depends, if you get the kind made of that really, really soft, smooth cotton, then they run pretty big

Ralph Lauren polo shirts I find run smaller than any shirts I've tried, especially when compared to other polos. I can't even wear some of the RL polos I own cause they look about 3 sizes too small and make me look like I shopped in the boy's section.

It depends...custom fit runs small, regular fit runs about normal.

Everyone seems to have different opinions about this. So your best bet is to go to the store and try them on and see how they fit you. We all have different body types so it is all going to depend on your style and if you think it looks good.
If you are going to compare RL polos to Hollister/AE/AF then yea I would say RLs will run at least one size larger then those. I have not shopped at those stores in over year so I dont know if they make their shirts any bigger. From what I remember they use to be sooooooooo small.

I wear a XXL at AF(almost to small) and I wear a L in RL regular fit polo with room to grow, L in custom fit and that fits snug.
