Iraqi Insurgents Kill 3 Muslim Clerics
Quote:
Insurgents have assassinated three clerics in Baghdad in an escalating wave of violence that authorities fear is aimed at sparking civil war.
Al Qaeda's wing in Iraq also warned the country's Sunni Arabs to take no part in drafting a new constitution, in another sign militants are trying to fuel sectarian tensions.
Guerrillas shot two Shi'ite clerics in Baghdad on Tuesday.
Mani Hassan, a member of a leading Shi'ite Islamist party, was killed outside his house, and Muwaffaq Mansour was ambushed in his car by gunmen.
The body of Hassan Nuaimi, a member of the Sunni Muslim Clerics Association, was also found in Baghdad on Tuesday, a day after the group accused the Shi'ite-dominated government of state terrorism and ignoring the killings of Sunnis.
The violence raged as Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi met Iraqi leaders during a trip to Baghdad. Kharrazi was the most senior Iranian official to visit Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein two years ago.
The United States has accused Iran of not doing enough to crack down on insurgents infiltrating Iraq. But Kharrazi said Iraq would ensure no insurgents launched attacks from Iran.
"We will not allow terrorists to use our lands to access Iraq," Kharrazi told a news conference in Baghdad. "We will watch our borders and will arrest infiltrators."
Some Sunni Arabs, suspicious of Iran after the Iran-Iraq war, are worried that the Shi'ite Islamists' victory in Jan. 30 elections will give Tehran a chance to influence Iraqi affairs.
Islamist Shi'ites and Kurds, oppressed under Saddam Hussein, won control of parliament in the polls and the Sunni Arab minority that dominated during Saddam's rule was sidelined.
Guerrilla attacks have killed more than 400 people since Iraq's new government was announced three weeks ago. Most of the dead were killed by a surge in suicide bombings.
In another assassination in Baghdad, guerrillas killed Alaidin al-Ubaidi, an engineer working for the Commission on Public Integrity, which probes corruption in Iraq.
On Sunday, gunmen in eastern Baghdad killed Qasim al-Gharrawi, a cleric who was the local representative of Iraq's most revered Shi'ite leader, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani....

1. That site is a division of Reuters specializing in humanitarian articles.
2. From the standard reuters site: http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...toryID=8520446
3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/mid...st/4554699.stm
Guess you go blind when the news isn't some lame conspiracy theory BS.

But you didn't want to wait when it was Americans desecrating the Koran?

He's just temporarily caught off guard. He'll be back claiming it's obviously the US killing these clerics to make the holy and pure insurgents look bad.

Well of course, it seems so logical. Maybe they sell the clerics bloods to the jews to drink.

Machines... thanks for the site
I missed it
and about the news
let's wait and see....
I won't jump to any conclusion.
and Aaron, go read my thread about the guantanamo bay, I did mention let's wait to see.
But of course if nothing is proven, I won't blame the insurgents.

Of course you won't. You're biased to the point of comedy. You find acceptable proof that the US has done wrong to be any half-ass theory.
But to you the only acceptable proof against the murdering terrorist thugs would have to be live video tape by muslim clerics with the insurgents confessing at the end.

Is it fair to say that some people feel the same way about American occupiers as you do about insurgents?
or is that totally irrational, stupid, uneducated, crazy and etc.?

If by "some people," you mean the insurgents themselves, then no. Only people who have no idea what the US has done and no idea what the insurgents have done would put them on the same level, so I guess ignorant people could fit in that category too.
But since the US is really behind this anyway what does it matter
