make your deli sandwich
So I work in a deli and can usually get 2 free meals so I make a couple big ass sandwiches to help with my bulking. Every 2 oz of deli meat here has about 9g protein give or take. The roast beef and turkey are nice because they're low in fat, about 1g every 2oz. Here's a list of what we got for you to give me an idea of what you would eat for building if you could eat 1 sandwich as a single meal. Feel free to make a second one (I do).
Meats:
- Corned beef (tasty but fatty)
- Roast beef
- Pastrami
- Turkey
- Ham
- Bacon
Breads:
- Rye
- Whole weat
- Onion roll
- Keiser roll
- White
Veggies:
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Onion
- G Pepper
- Red Onion
- Pickles
Dressing:
- Thousand Island
- Russian
- Mayo
- Mustard
- BBQ
Others:
- Sourkraut
- Hommous
So far today I made a Roast beef and Turkey on Rye (12oz of meat) w/ tomato, onion, lettuce, bacon and thousand island dressing. I estimate with that 12oz of meat and 4 strips of bacon that I got a good 50+ grams of protein. So give me some ideas... my second meal is coming up in an hour : )

deli meats are terrible sources of protein. they are loaded with sodium, and the some-alot-most of the aminos have been stripped, leaving it pretty unbioavailable. BUT!.....
my choice would be, if its possible.
id take bacon,turkey,corned/roast beef,and ham
all the veges and mayo on whole wheat

haha, I'm not stealing, for every 4 hours I work I get a free meal. but to add... wow, I never knew deli meats were that bad. I know they have a lot of sodium, but isn't sodium important in muscle production... and even though I am taking in a lot of sodium, the protein part is ok right?... I guess I should add, we also have rotisrie chicken and ribs... would that be a better idea? Oh yea, and potato salad and cole slaw.

Don't they just take all the scraps of the meats, grind them up, add filling and flavor and pump them into a mold? I don't think they can be too great...

unless you're cutting, pay no attention to your sodium intake and be sure to salt your food.
*unless you have pre-existing high blood pressure*
what, no capricola? how are you supposed to make a proper italian without capricola?
personally, i'd just throw every meat i could fit onto a wheat roll and some light italian dressing and mayo. throw some veggies on the side in kind of a salad and munch away.

So wait, the Boars Head Peppered turkey breast that I get is not a good source of protein? I know about the sodium content but am not too concerned as I only eat it once a day and dont eat alot of other salt, but I was under the impression that it was whole cooked turkey breast, not some processed junk. I'm talking about the stuff that they slice for you at the deli.

Honestly, if you have a choice of the roasted chicken and deli meat, take the whole chicken. You don't have to eat the whole thing, just use the good parts on a sandwich and bring the rest home to make some killer chicken soup or low fat chicken and bisquits. At least with a whole chicken you know it hasn't been ground up and mixed with a bunch of unwanted crap.

I'm just curious as to whether boars head turkey breast counts as "deli meat" in the same category as that oscar mayer filth. I am fairly positive that it is just cooked whole turkey breast with salt and some other flavorings added but nothing close to mixed up processed turkey parts.
