power back
sorry for another thread on running backs Im sure all of you guys are fed up lol, So i have a workout from fullback7 that im going to stick with starting soon thats mostly for speed and strength I think. So what is the bear minimum a power back has to be at speed wise and weight wise to be starting on varsity? take notice I go to a small school none of the running backs are above 170 lbs. I am about 150-155 now and want to be about 180 or so before next season so Im gonna bulk and do whatever it takes to get to that weight and at least keep some speed. thanks

there is no set limit... i know many RBs around 160 that have succeeded at the varsity level
your problem is that you're putting yourself in a box. your saying "i have to be a power back, and i have to be this weight and this height to succeed"
why not just keep lifting hard, and working on speed and agility, and most importantly work on all your running back skills, not just on being a "power back". then, when next season comes around and you get on the field, you'll be able to develop your own style based on your own physical abilities and potenital.
just kind of a suggestion.

you need the correct instincts to be a power back, i've seen kids weighing 170 lbs running over everyone, and kids that weigh 200+ that can do ****. it's all about what you can do
