Do you make enough money to be able to SAVE some?
For those of you who have a job... Do you make enough money so that you can actually save some??

Ya, you gotta save. If you're not saving and/or credit card is way up near the limit, its time for a lifestyle change. I dont think its a matter of making enough money. I'd rather sell my house and move into something cheaper than never have any money in the bank. For some people I know, ever pay increase means a nicer car with bigger payement or some other indulgence... not a way to live IMO.

I save a minimum of 20% of everything I make - period. Always pay yourself first. If you can't save any money, you're living beyond your means.

Yes. I have an arrangement with my company that a portion of my paycheck goes directly into a credit union account. I don't even see that money. And, I still save some other money too (well, I don't spend it anyway).

20%? Damn... you either have amazing self control or you're just plain loaded. Either way I'm jealous. Good work. I'm happy if I can put away 5% of a paycheque.

lol, no, definitely not loaded, I just don't buy things I don't need. I make it a point to live on ~20% less than I could, that's all. The first bill I pay every month is the bill to myself. The remaining money gets divided up to everything else.

I put 15% into my retirement, and every year I put a couple thousand in savings and another couple thousand toward my house.

50% of my wage always goes into a savings account. when it hits a large enough lump sum 50% of it goes into a higher risk investment

Always save, not to buy stuff, but for security. Security is priceless. Knowing I have the money there for whatever hail storm comes is worth as much as the money itself.

I do, but I have a credit card I am trying to pay down so all my spare cash goes that way. Essentially saving more than actually saving because the credit card interest rates are higher.
