relationship feelings vs romantic feelings?

What does it mean for a girl to have said something along the lines of "I really wanted a relationship with you" and also "but when I tried to think of you romantically, it felt wrong"

I've been trying to figure this out, maybe someone with more experience could help?

I'm guessing things must've gotten confused along the way.

hm.... lots of possible reasons. a relationship doesn't always have to mean you guys are dating, being friends is an example of a relationship.

however i think it's more something like this: i was very close with this girl in high school. we hung out a lot and got along great, but for some reason we just never really went out. one day i find out she got drunk and had sex with some random dude at a party (i don't drink or party so yeah thumbs down), and she got pregnant by the guy. then to top it off she had an abortion (also a major no no for me). so if she were to ask me to describe why we never went out, i would say "well i wanted a relationship with you, but when i tried to think of you romantically, it felt wrong."

I disagree with your assessment. That is a wild, gross exaggeration of what more than likely is a simple situation.

agh sorry to add information piece by piece, but i thought i could make it simple..

Ok so we've been close for about a year now. At the beginning of that time she was very .. confused. My presence in her life was a big factor in her healing. She says I put things in perspective for her. We were always physically affectionate ( i mean small things like hugging and touching all the time, although there were periods of strife where there was no contact ) And occasionally when we were both horny, we would be actively attracted sexually.

It was sort of a huge emotional rollercoaster for me. At one point, I thought we were dating ( she basically said it ) but it was right before winter break, and like the next day I guess she changed her mind or forget - I think maybe she realized it didn't feel right.

I guess I want to gain an understanding of the situation, because I don't feel like I have closure.

Also, I'm looking for the female perspective here, please share some insight.

But I think it has to do with me more than her. I've never been a guy that a girl will madly fall in love with, because I sort of "put my whole salami on the table."

She sees you as a source of comfort and security rather than a boyfriend and she probably already knows that she can have you so your not a challenge for her.

I know this **** sounds cheesy and you may of seen this posted a couple thousand times before but if you become easily available to her and always be willing to comfort her through hard times then after a while she will see you as less powerfull then herself and will be less attracted to you as a result.
I think the reason she doesn't feel that thing for you is because you're not very dominant or assertive when in her presence and get drawn too much into her reality/world?
