Lightbulb Advice on Advice

I recently posted a question about carbs before a Fitness competition (currently 53 days out)-- and about HMB, I received a very good response from one person, and wanted to know if anyone else here would be willing to critique what was told to me; or offer any opposing or agreed responses.

Thanks
here it is...

THE ANSWER I RECEIVED:
Free-form L-leucine is superior to HMB, which tends to be overpriced relative to its effects (which are pretty miniscule). You can get leucine (100g for $5) at Beyond a Century (type it into Google). Search for leucine and my username if you want more detailed info; I've posted a lot about it on various threads in the past.

Quote:My next question was...
Also during the last 10 days out, how many carbs should I be taking in max? I am currently taking in anywhere from 70-90 per day. If I carb deplete too much, I fear flattened delts, tris, no def in my quads... deflation.
Any help ANYONE can offer would be great...
Thanks ahead of time!

ANSWER:
Eat one day of ~150g of carbs; then drop it down to 50g/day and cut all sodium out of your diet. Make sure you glycogen deplete fully (train each body-part high-rep, low-weight style: arms one day, legs one day, etc., and continue to do cardio as you have been). Then, 2 days out, first thing in the morning, you should do a full-body, HST-style workout, doing 2 sets for every body-part, afterwards, carb-up on sweet potatoes (very high potassium), at about 12g of carbohydrate per kg of bodyweight (divide your weight in pounds by 2.2 to get the kg amount). With each sweet potato meal, take 2 tsps. of Olive oil, and eat some lean, low-sodium protein like chicken breast. Try to consume as little water as possible, and sip fluids only in between meals (green tea would be the best thing to drink). In the evening (the night before the contest), have 2-3 glasses of red wine. Don't fear if you look like you've retained a little water over the course of the day from carbing up, the wine will totally dry you out and you will wake up very lean and hard and glycogen-super-compensated the day of. Then on contest day, drink a lot of water, eat a moderate breakfast of oatmeal and chicken, and head to the show. An hour before you pose, eat 2-3 tablespoons of peanut butter along with about 50g of sugary candy (although avoid high fructose corn-syrup). This should enhance fullness & vascularity and get your muscles "popping" at the show. If you want to enhance this, consume 5g of l-taurine, 5g of l-histadine, and 5g of AAKG (arginine alpha-keto-gluc.) the day before (spread out) and the day of the show (all with your PB and candy), along with 2000mg of niacin (it's a B-Vitamin).

Eventually I'm gonna write an article for this...

Cheers.
