Former bypass patient NEED NUTRITION HELP!

I underwent Gastric Bypass Surgery about 8 months weighing in at 395lbs, and since then ive been able to get down to 220lbs. Ive had a significant drop in body fat but what concerns me now is that im starting to notice a considerable loss in muscle. The past couple months ive concentrated primarily in trying to intake as much protein a day as possible but because of the size of my stomach i worry i am unable to intake the amount of protein i need to build muscle mass. For those that are not familiar with the surgery my stomach has been cut down and reduced to a size a little smaller then a baseball, which means i intake much smaller portions then a regular person. Exactly how much protein do i need to be intaking to gain muscle mass? Can a person in my situation be able to gain a significant amount of muscle mass? Thanks for your time guys any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

I think its giong to be difficult, and you don't want to get in to the bad habits of absolutely stuffing yourself, but from what i understand, that is how you always feel after you eat following gastric bypass?

honestly ask your doctor, ask him if protein shakes would be less filling, or maybe free form branch chain amino acids and non essential amino acids.

That is usually what happens w/gastric bypass, it is hard to control up to what state of weight loss you want to stop. Are you still getting all the prescribed Fat soluable vitamins? Was it the lap band surgery? Some people with this type of surgery cannot control their weightloss, or at least it is difficult for them. Of course it would be easy to down some high caloric foods/shakes, but it is not the case since it will take it's toll and possible cause dumping syndrome. Honestly, IMO, it is best to talk to your doc like stated above and to the clinical dietitian of the facility. Hopefully the dietitian that works for the surgeon has good experience and can help you out. Most dietitian's don't know how to go about reaching specific goals.
