Not sure what to look for.
For the past four months,my doctor, therapist, and dermatologist have all been trying to get me to take testosterone supplements. My doctor ran several tests and says that my testosterone levels fluctuate between a level that is normal for my age and sex(17 y.o. male)if not a little low even then,to a level that is extremely low for someone my age.My doctor and therapst believe that it's the fluctuating levels that are responsible for my bouts of depression, and my dermatologist believes that this could be what causes my severe breakouts(which are pretty bad and can take over my face, neck, back, chest, and arms for months at a time).
Anyway, they've all been trying to get me on testosterone supplements, which I've ignored because all my research online (some of which was done on BB.com)tells me that someone my age shouldn't need to take supplements,so I've pretty much thought they're full of it and refused to take them. But now I'm having another bout of depression, and I've recently had a bad breakout, and none of the other stuff they've tried seems to be helping. So I agreed to go on the testosterone supplements, but as prescriptions cost money that I don't have,I'm trying to find a good over the counter/online brand.
My doctor didn't have any suggestions, just advised me to take the prescription supplements (of course),which I can't afford, and I myself have never taken any,and have no idea what I'm looking for. So,I was wondering if anyone here could give me some suggestions.Any help would be nice.

I have asked, the cheapest prescription he offered me was $130,which I'd prefer not to have to put out monthly for supplements, even if they were a sure fire treatment, which is never the case, there's always a chance it won't work.I'm 17,I live in an apartment which, even with a roomate who covers half the shared expenses, costs quite alot, and as schools about to start back up,I'm going to have to take on less hours at work, which means less cash.I'd prefer not to have to add $130 to my supplement bill,so over the counter or over the net seem like better options for me.

Your doctor will subscribe you much better drugs than you will receive here. Listen to them. $130 is steep. I suggest you find a job that has medical coverage or at 17 see if you can be added to your parents. Again nothing here will yield results that prescription will. Good luck.

I really have no idea what kind of doctors you go to, but no doctor in their right mind would recommend OTC test boosting supps. If you have a serious testosterone problem you will have to go on a PREscription drug (not subscription). With your description of your problems your most likely prescription would probably be an antidepressant (maoi, ssri). Doctors don't like to use test for 17 year olds.
No OTC supplement will do. $130 dollars is not that much. And I say that because one of my prescriptions is $1700 dollars (has no generic). Do you or your parents/guardians have health insurance? If so you will pay a fraction of that price. And if not then I suggest you get some health insurance, because screwing with OTC supps when you have a serious health issue is, no offense but, dumb and will more than likely lead to more health issues.
IMO, get a second opinion from a specialist* (endo would be the best), at 17 your body still has plenty of time to correct itself, but if you do have a serious chronic problem the endocrinologist will take care of you.
GL, please go see another doc. I sincerely hope this post was a joke.

as good as some of the otc test supps are they will not compare to prescription test meds.

Please don't buy anything from this site or any others. This is where all that medical school, etc will come in handy. Listen to the Dr.

Definitely. Also, many of the 'test boosting' supps are shaky science (at best), and a good number are just plain bunk. It's far more of a gray field than we like to admit, and not every producer has a truly deep knowledge about what they are doing . Your situation requires a lot more attention than you can get here, and knowledge that this forum can't meet.
Look at it this way. You could spend your money on OTC/supplemental test boosters, find you get nowhere with them (and you don't have a medical professional to help monitor), lose that money - and be right back to square one.
$130 is a lot of money, but if it is this serious, you'll need to find a way to make ends meet. Supplemental/OTC you actually have a lot to lose here.
