Does everyone else look down on others because... (serious)
of their life experience, as if to say that you're better than others because of what you've gone through? Or is this just me.

Lots of people call it cockiness. But what am I supposed to do about it? I don't think I'll ever be able to change it...

We all look down at people to some extent .We are in a world were everyone judges each other to some degree. How you look, what your job is and where you live.
Just because someone has not went through what you have. Does not mean that they will not go through something one day. That you will never experience. We all learn from life experience. Everyone grows in there own way and time.
But it is not wrong to have some cockiness. The Key thing is just not to be a jack@ss to everyone around you.

I try to not be a jackass to everyone around me, but at the same time in the back of my head I feel that I'm better because I've gone through things that they couldn't fathom. Especially older people who think young people haven't gone through much in life, I despise them.

I understand your point of view since I can relate to what you are saying. Age is sometime only a number. What you go through in those years is what makes you the person you are today. So with that experience it shows how mature you are.
When I was younger I had health issues that I was luckily enough to out grow them when I hit my teens. But I went through a lot when I was younger and it made me stronger as a person. But I kind of get piss off when people who are older than me treat me like a child. When I have went through things they could not even conceive.

This sentence has me so confused.

Exactly, and knowing that you can't judge people without knowing what they've been through... but at the same time I do the same by looking down on others before I know what they've been through? Strong double standard, but I can't help but feel that not many can go through worse things

Well if you personally know the person and judge them. Based on your knowledge of them I can understand. But strangers you met and have a first impression of them that sticks with you. That can not be helped.
We are all human beings and far from the ideals of perfection.
