I myself have never really liked barbell rows. Never could feel them that good. I do like dumbbell rows. Find what works for you and what you can progress the best in.

He doesn't row the weight up so much as he drops his chest down to meet the bar. Kinda like the O-lift version of a BB row.

when yall do one arm db rows, do you keep your elbow close to your side, or do you flare it out (like in a barbell row)

When I do DB Rows I keep my elbows as close to my body as possible and keep a neutral grip

Personally I like dumbbell rows with strict control, I extend my arm forward slightly at the bottom to get the full stretch (as per Dorian Yates), but no use of momentum to bring the dumbbell back. Nice and tight.
U need both. To tell you the truth, I actually like doing Bent-Over Two-Arm DB Row. That gets my Back pumped like crazy (when done with good form). Bad form when rowing is the best way not to get any sort of pump at all.
