So I dropped my classes after the due date, need excuse to get $$$ back.
I am in college and our add/drop deadline was this past fri. I decided to take a year off or more to travel the world. But, this was after that deadline. So I am obligated to pay for the classes (roughly $1200). BUT, if I have supported documentation that I didn't know I had to leave before the deadline ended, I will get my money back. Such as an family emergency that makes me leave the country/state. My father actually did die this past summer recently so I could say I had to leave for that. I need a good excuse that will make my emergency sudden.

Say that one of your family member attempted suicide due to depression over your fathers death.
This reminds me of that thread where that guy did a semester of a class without being enrolled

you just got to talk to someone face to face, and in an office. just you and them. if you make it more personal, they'll want to help you more.
if you dis-enrolling, then you must be entitled to maybe SOME of that money back, no?

The thing was, they stressed that fact that I needed documentation. I suppose I could say I just need the time off to re-evaluate my life after my father's death. Which is a solid situation. Just trying to think of alternatives.
Oh and btw my plan is to work 80 hours per week and by 5 months I will have ~4500 cash to travel. Can't wait.

Well I was kind of questioning the person I talked to about it. I was like "what if, just out of curiosity, I just decided to take some time to travel?" and she said that no, I will not get any money back. I will be refunded ONLY if I have an emergency or something out of that sort that forces me to leave.
