Black metal or Death metal vocals? (poll)
Which do you like better, the low pitched grunting and growling of death metal, or the mid-high ranged rasping goblin style of black metal? Its odd I like black metal vocals much better than death, despite the fact that I am more likely to like a random death metal cd opposed to a random black metal one, I just find it easier listening, it doesn't grate me at all, and you have a much better platform to deliver an emotional / despair effect from black metal. Death metal can be epic, but black metal has by far the most epic songs for example:
Emperor - I am the black wizards
Katharsis - World Without End (Best black metal song ever talk about epic)
Deathspell Omega - Sole Fide 1
Darkthrone - Transylvanian Hunger (only good darkthrone song imho)
Lord belial - Legio Inferi
Anyways whats your opinion black metal or death metal vox and why?

I know that it isn't 'kvlt' to like Arch Enemy but who cares, this elitest mentality is so destructive for metal, but anyways imagine angela glassow singing in a black metal band, very high pitched demonic growls omg that would rule, black metal is a genre that women could really help progress. Also I like the mid ranged death metal vocals loads more than standard death metal cookie monster vocals, especially if the guitars aren't down tuned to hell. Like Death - Symbolic, chucks vocals reached their peak on this album, I also like how the high pitched guitars complement them so well, (death metal needs more high pitched guitar leads, the low end of the spectrum is the most boring imho)
Chucks vocals wen't downhill though on Sound of Perseverance, too high too weird for me.

I prefer Chuck's later vocals compared to his earlier stuff.
I don't think Angela's vocals would work for BM.

She uses a throaty black metal style in the song 'ravenous' where she sings 'I will be a god' and some other parts where she hits the high notes. Sounds awesome to me, hope more girls give it a shot

I would say the combo...
Alittle scream, alittle growl, alittle sing. Something like that.

look into augury if that is what you are interested to. Sick guttural growls, high pitches shrieks, and beautiful female and male operatic vocals.

Will do.
Damn torrentspy is now banning US visitors. So I will have to find other means to check them out.

Well BM vocal suit Bmetal music and DM vocals suit Dmetal music so cant really say one os better than the other but i guess i do prefer Death Metal vocals. BM vocals are easy to do in comparison to DM vocals also.

Both!
Mix it up more!
DM vox, clean vox, BM vox, spoken word, so on and so forth. Vocals that sound exactly the same for the entire album get old, and I don't think enough bands experiment and try to use the voice to its potential.

Angel Gossow isn't really that special, her vocals are actually quite generic. People always praise her and make a big deal about her due to the simple fact that she's female. Trust me, if she was a dude no one would care about that band. Coincidence that they blew up after they got rid of the guy singer that came before her?

I never questioned whether you did or not, but the fact of the matter is no one has made such a big deal about them until this point. They weren't featured in magazines, MTV, or other medial and commercialized avenues before. Their sound has changed for the worse, very much watered down.

Agreed, i like their old volcalist and there older material far better. Burning Bridges sh*ts on any of their newer albums imo.

I have to disagree about BM vocals being easier. I can't scream that loud and go high-pitched at the same time. I guess it depends on the individual. Personally I like black metal better, but death metal is still great.

Even though I much prefer BM I'd have to go with DM vocals. It seems to me that the only good BM vocalist is Attila; most of the others just sound like they've got their balls in a vice.

I like bands that can cover a variety of vocal styles. A good example would be Psycroptic's "Scepter of the Ancients". Chalky has some amazing versatility on that album.
And as long as a band knows what vocals to use when, I enjoy both of those styles, because it's more about what they do with the music, rather than what they sound like alone.

I voted death, but that's not conclusive.
For the record, if you want female metal vocals that are impressive - and not Angela Gossow, who sucks and who sings for a fucking **** band - check out Gallhammer. Listen to the music those three Tojo chicks make, and listen to the vocals. Fucking freaky.
